Only hip hop artist that check all of the boxes during their prime runs:

    Dre
    Ye
    Pac
    BIG

Maybe Em and 50. That's it. Nobody else.

Biggest Kendrick hit was...BDKMV? Swimming Pools? Alright?

We not gonna rewrite history and act like Kendrick was out here making smash hit records left and right lol his strength was his albums being classic and his rap being elite. The rest has caught up these last few years. Don't think its debatable

    first two are huge what...

    Sir Real

To the extent Kendrick and Kanye killed the genre, it would primarily be due to the fact they brought a bunch of indie rock hipsters and pop heads into hip hop and now we have to listen to you all b**** and moan constantly, acting like experts despite secretly having the utmost disdain for the genre and culture

but you keep minimizing your point to “clones” when we know that is not how influence works unless it was Wayne/Keef/Thug and keep ignoring direct quotes from the artists about that artists influence on their music

just because you ain’t see direct clones, doesn’t mean influence didn’t exist. where are the Drake clones even tho he’s the biggest rapper ever? you saw more Thug/soundcloud clones but who’s to say Drake didn’t influence artists like Rod Wave who are the biggest of their generation?

you reasoning focused on clones doesn’t make sense

I took the whole "mmlp ruined hip hop" point more as a claim that the album or eminem had a direct influence on the genre that spawned a wave of mcs who ran with that exact style or tried to become eminem 2.0, kind of like how some people argue wayne "ruined" hip hop by creating a bunch of clones

my point is that aside from the undeniable inspiration eminem gave countless rappers (because he was simply a phenomenal rapper) the overall sound of the genre stayed mostly untouched, his influence was too loose because he was way too unique and the circumstances that shaped him were too specific for anyone to just replicate him directly, I think we're kind of talking past each other here... on the point that eminem was impactful and inspiring, I 100% agree with you

Growing up is realizing people claim they love things but they really love potential not the thing that’s in front of them but what it can grow into.

Hip hop audience is very guilty of this.

This called music sxn but I can count on 2 hands the folks on this site that really LOVE music

    @lonny860 @Oblivion99 @YoungNastyShawty @proper @provider @Aquilla @mdmadon

I would make more threads on the s*** I enjoy but it'd prob get like 4 replies and one of those would be @fka_sebastien saying "we need to do something about OP"

Guys no matter how much you want it to be, Kendrick and Kanye’s discog are not the same. Kanye’s classics influenced and shaped hip hop sound every time and spawned multiple babies. People heard tpab and said f*** that conscious jazz rap s***. Nothing against jazz rap. It’s just if you’re gonna be creative, you have to make it sound good for people to wanna emulate it. That’s the issue we have rn. The weird creatives are not making good enough music

Brother I sacrificed my soul, sanity, and well being for music going to school for and perusing it professionally for over a decade.. If that's not love idk what is. But i see where you are coming from to a certain extent though. I definitely don't love it UNCONDITIONALLY lol. If that means I'm part of the problem so be it but yeah I don't like basic poorly executed s*** man idk lol

but i don't like s*** that lacks polish either so there is that, very specific

i really need us to stop comparing them lmfao like kendrick has a flawless discog but what his music and what ye's music did were completely different and the only thing thats similar is the meta critic scores deadass

  • hellhathnofurries

If there was a biggest cry baby on ktt award you would win it

If there was an award for most delusional user then a lot of Kendrick fans would compete for the title. Horrid thread and we often - very often - get those kind of delusional takes from them

Kendrick stans do that because Kanye actually showed us what a classic discog looks like. Replayable masterpieces that sound great while influencing the genre. Not just critic bait albums

that era of rap was gta 5

its taking longer for the next generation to come because of that, its that simple

its really this yall niggas just dont realize that the music we had was the absolute peak of rap as we know it and we have to rebuild culturally to ever get back to a point like that

covid and trump set us back so bad and i dont think we have actually accepted that
