Exactly. That could easily end with the attacker getting shot in the leg, not being neutralized because she was already lunging, stabbing the other girl in the throat and then they both bleed out. Or just the cop missing altogether, because shooting a moving target that small isn’t even consistent at the range, let alone a split-second decision. Its not Red Dead Redemption.

there's around...6? 7? arteries in the leg, each one of them about the width of a finger. the most vital of which is the femoral artery. if you're unfortunate enough to be shot there, you can easily die anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

Cop had pulled up beforehand. lights, sounds, etc. already out of the car and coming when she decided to go aggressively against the others with a knife. That’s not self defense to the cop making a split decision with a knife at someone else’s throat
