but she was clearly trying to stab that other woman. there were already multiple cops on the scene and she starts rushing someone with a knife. really f***ing dumb

You can mourn her death and recognize it’s a f***ed situation, but this is not the one to make a martyr of. That video will not help when played to a national audience

She had a knife up to the other girls throat... like cmon. Yeah, of course he should have tased, but he was using this under the threat of lethal intention against another person. Sad all around, though.

ACAB but like everyone else said itt, this is a very hard situation. It was a split second decision that the cop had to make to save another person’s life. I feel like if the cop did taser the girl and she somehow still had the strength to plunge that knife in the girls throat while being tasered, the cop would still get s*** because people would start saying that he didn’t do enough to neutralize the attacker and save the other girl.

That’s what I was wondering. Tasing doesn’t always just take someone out, especially if they’re wound up with adrenaline flowing

The thing is if the cops just stood there and did nothing and the girl ended up stabbing the other girl in the neck with the knife everyone would be saying "WHY DIDNT THE COPS SAVE HER!! THEYRE USELESS!!"

The girl who would've gotten stabbed was apart of the group of girls jumping her. So I wouldn't say anything about the cops. I would probably say "That's unfortunate. But next time run a fair one instead of jumping somebody, and you wouldn't see any knives involved"

I'm not siding with the cops here but that girl would have killed the other one.. terrible situation altogether I don't think that the cop should get destroyed for this.

and if he had tazed her and that didn't bring her down and she ended up still stabbing the other girls neck, people would have been like cops are usually the first to shoot but now they didn't when they could have saved a life

Personally I'm against any/all weapons being used. But if someone is getting jumped, I can't tell them how to defend themselves, and I can't really shame them if they choose to use a knife or a gun.

People ain't gonna like to hear this, but the rules go out the window if it's 3-5 people vs 1. S*** is self-defense at that point.

The cop unfortunately acted in the best way possible (in his eyes) based on the information being processed in that moment. There's an apparent attacker wielding a knife and is moments away from possibly killing someone. Take too long and someone is dead, act now and someone gets shot/tased and still someone possibly dies.

If only the people present did more to prevent the altercation, or even tried to help disarm the child before the cops showed up, then this wouldn't have happened.

If she was trying to stab someone else it wasn’t that cop job to kill her. The only way he had a right is if she tried to stab him or a fellow officer. Even then he could’ve gave her a leg shot or a arm shot.... he just wanted to kill a black kid that day and with that being said i hope his mother get shot the same way so he can see how that hurt feel.....

That’s not true. This would have been justifiable by law even for a civilian who was carrying.

Generally, if it’s a situation where someone could legally use a gun to protect themself, then you could use a gun to save them.
