A puppy dies every time Pitchfork is mentioned anywhere. Yeah I just killed one I know I don't care I'll do it again
you're right it was more just funny to me
then you don’t actually hate country music, you’re just one of those people who arbitrarily disregards an entire genre they know nothing about
A lot of people have tried to put me onto country this genuinely the first time I ever enjoyed it, seems like this album a lot more folk influenced though. I’m interested in hearing more but you should understand that in 2023 where racist country songs are topping the charts why me as a black man wouldn’t be that interested in diving deeper lol.
8 pages for a country artist on here is actually decent. A lot of KTT really only now starting to listen to the genre
well he's more singer-songwriter to me than country but I feel you
This gotta be album of the year right? Pitchfork giving this their signature 6.7 is so laughable
Atrocious score lmao pitchfork needs to stay in their lane and review Fionana Apple
Bro I f***ing hate country music and I’m utterly shocked I find this amazing
checkout sturgill simpson’s work if you enjoy ZB’s stuff

What’s everyone’s favorite lyrics on this. Mines gotta be this:
You've been stabbed in the back and the rest of your body
Won't you tell me where you’re bleedin' from?
If you need a tourniquet or if you wanna turn and quit
Know that I'll be by your side
You bled your whole soul into things you can't control
In a world you'll never satisfy
I bandage up your body and your bones and your bad days too

I bandage up your body and your bones and your bad days too
You’ve been playin’ your guitar from arenas to the bars
Since you were old enough to rhyme a word
But your face is gettin' thinner and you’re prayin' for the winter
And I heard you f***ed it up with her
Pеople die a thousand times to get to who they are
You were prayin' to the heavens on a late train car
You heart knows deeper seasons than my eyes ever will
I'm a self-destructive landslide if you wanna be the hill
Bro I f***ing hate country music and I’m utterly shocked I find this amazing
Have you heard this? I guess it's "neo country" which I never knew was a genre until more recently

You’ve been playin’ your guitar from arenas to the bars
Since you were old enough to rhyme a word
But your face is gettin' thinner and you’re prayin' for the winter
And I heard you f***ed it up with her
Almost chose this too, that delivery on f***ed it up with her is 10/10
Y'all really not fw Spotless??
At first it was in my bottom 5 but I really love it now. My only complaint is that it kind of feels a little disjointed in the delivery as a duet. Like you can hear the punch ins sort of. Feels kind of jarring at times but still great

i wonder if Kacey wrote her verse on this or not. it could've been stronger
She did, at least Apple Music said she did. It really just felt like a response to his first verse and nothing too crazy but I do love that first line of her verse.
“You’re drinking everything to easy your mind, but when the hell are you gonna ease mine?”
That’s classic kacey

yeah it's definitely just a direct response to the first verse, which is cool but eh
reminds me i need to revisit star-crossed tho
There's wheels runnin' down the interstate
But, Lord, I'll wait another day, 'cause I ain't close to you
There's time tickin' on the interstate
I'm fightin' fate
And, Lord, I hate that I ain't close to you

Not gonna lie, Kacey’s one of my favorite artists and I love her first three albums but star crossed was a huge let down for me. Felt like golden hour was the perfect sprinkle of pop but still kept her country sound but star crossed just felt watered down and formulaic

This up there too. Once this part of that song hit, it took it to another level
