this a complicated topic where a black father, who has lost his leadership on the community, is explaining the usage of a word that has historically been used to degrade people with his skin color to a braindead white boy
on top of doing that on an album where the cover is buddy in white face with blue eyes, then you are explaining it to a streamer who has proudly platformed Trump and proudly said he voted for Trump
while at the same time doing it through the a medium of entertainment that has you bending the knee to literal children led by an older child who’s a closet anti-Semitic Jew surrounded by Nazis. make it make sense lmfao
Those bars shocked me and not because of him spamming the hard r, it shocked me because we’re witnessing street niggas implementing tiktok brain rot meme esque bars into songs, literally sounds like an AI meme some white kid would make, yeah this s***s cooked ngl.
But I think there’s a bigger topic here and it’s getting to the point that I would say most street niggas are republicans, I mean really think about it. They’re mostly gun loving downlow homophobes that would align with or snake anyone for a dollar and kill another black person for relatively no reason. Sound familiar?
Hood niggas aren’t the best example of what the hood is at all, it’s white peoples favorite example of the hood. I mean who you think put them on tv and radio? Not black people, we don’t want thugs representing us as a whole. But then when you remember what this dudes name is and what he represented and who backed him it seems way more deliberate than just hey look at this weird black dude from Atlanta.

Nah fr. As someone that was a huge young thug fan since damn near the beginning this is crazy to see. You just beat a historic Rico that the whole world was rooting for you and the intro to the first album is some Dave Blunt tier edgy bullshit where you’re spamming the hard R

I’ll respond back to this properly, but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing on an official release when that s*** came on
Someone would argue that it’s good art in the sense that it makes you feel the way, it’s controversial, and it’s subvert expectations, etc. But I don’t like that the song is gonna be used as a meme s*** by white kids and just in general

young thug is every black dude in ATL who forgets that at the end of they day, they are black but proceeds to surround themselves with white people
this probably happens everywhere, but man this s*** is especially prevalent in the south because of what you said
dudes like thug finally interact with closet racist white boys who “understand aspects of them (homophobia, guns)” while looking at their fellow brothers as misled and stupid for wanting to follow the path of love and equality for all because they are so deeply homophobic and due to the fact that black people have been at such an uneven playing field
they, in their mind, think standing next to that white person is good for black people because now their ego gets them to be able to “check the white person” when in reality, that white person wants you to check them on some “look at this dumbass try to dance and explain for massa”
its over man, I think some deal was made between prosecution/defense and industry execs to let Thug walk (with some restrictions + him pillow talking) but in return his rap career is f***ed and he’ll he used as an example. only reason why Thug got off as relatively light as he did

Literally at this point nigga might as well just add a ye hh remix for the deluxe 😂
Thug told yall already what he was about a decade plus ago. I feel like this whole prison stint made niggas forget about what he said on Mike Brown

I dont even think most these rappers even conservatives, just the biggest endorsers of capitalism. They capitulate to whoever is on the winning side because it brings the most money. (Every rapper was an O-halfy fan when he was on top) Not to sound bill o reilish but, lotta these niggas dont read so I dont think they would even understand alotta that s***.
Ppl like Thug and other street rappers only politics they remotely care about is hood politics since thats the only kind that directly affects them. None of these social movements effect them cause they got too much money for such.
rap as a whole is very leaderless right now
you got Kendrick yelling at a wall of silence while doing the $3M diamond crown
you got Drake heavily encouraging lack of critical a***ysis/thinking and leaking to the guys
Future
the alleged older leaders doing casinos and performing at the Vatican (nasty work)
and then niggas like Thug/Travis and the youth that spawned from them since 2015-now
Zelooperz just dropped a great album I promise y'all don't need to listen to this
We in the late stage of capitalism
So we hit the late stage of what rappers inevitably would turn into (mascots for the corporations. These streamers, kick, stake, all these figureheads the corporations now)

i’d make an argument it’s always been kinda leaderless.
Last era of musicians that really put actions behind their words was the 60s/70s.
Cardi was platformed by the Democratic Party and has spent the last 2 weeks using gay as a diss to Uzi…make it make sense
(<- and f*** this nigga all the way too and Kai for platforming him. I see what they doing to the kids)
Yeah niggas really turning ballsy on lgbtq this last year or so, guess the trump water making them a bit too comfortable with all their extreme rollbacks on them - but as great black leaders have said that I repeat and keep inscribed on "if they hate OTHERS, then they WILL hate YOU TOO". This s*** is and already having a negative affect on black communities too that is trickling down lgbtq such as taking out our history in certain libraries/schools, taking away MLK day in states, trying to rollback interracial marriage and rolling back Miranda rights etc.
Idk why tho some niggas are flipping so bold like this, and it's niggas that USED the lgbtq too - if it was dudes not using the lgbtq community and using them like a costume it would be different and to me not "as bad".
But both cardi and thug have used the community to further their careers, have a massive fanbase that identity as such and have played into it. And like I said, im not even one of those that think you HAVE to "cater" to everyone, but decent respect should be a given, especially if USED THEM before. Like I said, Thug could stop dressing/acting "gay" (even tho he hasn't lmao) while also still giving general respect to the communities, and even moreso since it's a major part of his audience.
Even if you don't care, or like me, aren't lgbtq yourself, people should still be able to see it's some sucka whack s*** that's f***ed up and not trust worthy as hell that is literally using people's identitys and culture - sounds familiar.
Remember, "if they hate others, then they will hate YOU as well" - don't fall for the trap y'all. And don't let the slope slip. If it ain't affecting us now, it will affect us later.

Rap is among the most capitalistic genres, but at the same time it’s also probably the most organic

Migos fashion all by gay niggas and even back then still said “I cannot vibe with queers”
Cardi B is literally bi. She just one of those typical bi women that clearly dont tolerate men being bi (it’s a LOTTTTT of those) and/or she just said whatever to jt and uzi cause she hates them considering her mans has had DL accusations for YEARS.

All genres started off organic brehs

Yeah basically this, and add in the fact that they’ve been on survival mode since adolescence then you really understand why they value certain things over other important topics going on in the world. They aren’t well read on topics that aren’t an immediate threat to them and their neighborhood.
The pov in their head is wtf do they care about a maga white person using them as a puppet cause if isn’t deliberate they most likely wont even realize it and they’ve probably only faced threats and physical violence from other black people in their hood, then that’s when you get them siding with white people saying “yeah black people are the problem” not realizing they basically got you hook, line and sinker saying exactly what they can’t out of their own mouths without sounding like a bigot.
Add in the fact that money talks and everyone in their hood gets to eat, it really is a pick your poison kinda situation for these dudes but they don’t wisen up and stop the street shenanigans while on top, they get locked up and that’s when the industry sneaks in their plants basically just straight up mimicking the sound cause the groundwork was already laid for it to be catchy and the label owns the songs they’re mimicking. Sad all around tbh
All genres started off organic brehs
True, but even now I’d argue rap is still the most organic, at least one of them.

What is organic about a genre in an era where streams can be botted and payola is rampant?
i’d make an argument it’s always been kinda leaderless.

You don’t think the efforts kept going up through the 90s when it was ultimately compromised? Or you saying those efforts were so minuscule following that era (which you right about btw, them 60s/70s artists are all time legends for a reason…real musical leaders) in comparison to what was happening in the mainstream?

I feel the mid 80s was where s*** began to shift.
Public Enemy aint just Chuck D. They had a member who was…let’s be real, a living caricature dawg lmao.
Any goodwill Pac gained in his interviews and beliefs are nullified by how he was living his life in the death row years.
And just…rappers just arent the same as community leaders. Think even a young Chuck D hated that perception during a panel.
