Maybe dna but theyd need to subpoena a swab or grab from his trash a cup for his dna… meaning theyd need to track him down first
Its possivle they have on scene hair fibers, but its a busy street so its hard to conclusively prove its the killers opposed to any of the thousands of passerbys without more evidence

To prove conclusively something is his is difficult and requires a larger amount of forensic a***ysis usually, even if they see blood on a scene and theyre fairly positive, they say “suspected” until its truly proven since its up to the jury to truly decide tbh

Even in court for murder cases, they bring in police to describe a murder scene and theyll just say they saw “red brown staining”

And then a subsequent expert will then testify that that red brown staining has a 99.999% chance of being so and sos blood

And its up to the jury to say “ok thats the victims blood beyond reasonable doubt”
