Totally caught me off guard, they just kissed so I’m interested to see where this goes

Did Shauna’s sexuality catch you off guard? I ask because to me and many others, her sexuality was obvious from the first episode. It’s one of my first questions I ask others watching too lol. There’s a lot to get into about it, we don’t have to do that now lol

hmmn never really thought it, I guess there was always some interesting energy between her and Jackie, but she was pregnant for awhile as a teenager and then married as an adult so I never really thought about it

The JackieShuana thesis is real lol. In short, their connection was/is so strong that it not only charted their course of their lives, but also the lives of everyone else. Shauna not being able to express her love for Jackie, getting upset at Jackie’s popularity and in her head ignoring of Shauna. This causing her to take her intense desire to be close to Jackie to the extreme with her affair with Jeff (marriage to Jeff is in the theory but is a little separate). Jackie being comphet most likely and her own fears of expressing her love for Shauna causing her to more outwardly indicate her love for Shauna but never filling doing it. The journal was such a shock because she felt that some of her own expression was there. She couldn’t see that Shauna’s way of indirectly getting close and saying “I love you” to Jackie was her f\*\*\*ing her boyfriend.

We had so much fun in the writers’ room just thinking of all these little moments and how much they would mean,” co-creator Ashley Lyle tells Entertainment Weekly. “We really wanted to dig into as many as possible. We’re so happy we got here because, to us, this is the big payoff. We’ve spent three seasons with the before and the much after, but through bridging that gap of these characters and how they transitioned from who they were before they crashed, and who they were while they were out there, to who they became, was just so juicy in terms of character, and we wanted to spend as much time there as humanly possible.”

With Melissa’s (Hilary Swank) return, Shauna has started re-embracing some of the darker parts of herself, a fact that has made Misty (Christina Ricci) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress) decide it might just be time for them to take out their former Antler Queen.

“You never want it to feel like a foregone conclusion. And so we spent a lot of time, Bart and I, talking amongst ourselves and in the writers’ room, just going, ‘How do we take this as far as we possibly can? What is the apotheosis of this idea?’ And we had a blast doing it. Yeah, buckle up is, I guess, the only thing I can say because we get a little crazy.”
