Considering Yeezys are the only relevant Adidas sneaker this is a bigger L for Adidas tbh

This is like if Nike lost Jordan

do we actually expect resale market to jump even for used Yeezys? These s***s really about to gain value?

Impossible to say. Since there won’t be any restocks, supply will likely only go down over time. If demand stays consistent or raises again because Kanye manages to pull off an apology, prices could definitely go up. If he goes further down the rabbit hole demand could also collapse and cause prices to drop.

Considering Kanye lost more than half his net worth over night, I’d say this is just as much of an L for him

In the short term yes but in the long term nah

Adidas will never have anything as successful as the Yeezy line meanwhile Ye will be unstoppable when he eventually gets his independent factories and manufacturing down to a science

I find it highly questionable that Kanye will be able to pull off anything comparable independently. He doesn’t have the infrastructure to produce or distribute apparel or footwear on this scale (hence the partnerships with adidas and Gap in the first place). Other major brands will also be hesitant to work with him now, so he would effectively need to set up the whole value chain by himself. Clothing is very capital intense and has comparably low margins. Since Kanye burned most of his net worth, I also doubt that he has the funds to build this all by himself (on a scale comparable to what he had with adidas). Given the circumstances, I would also assume that demand would be significantly lower than before.

Adidas on the other hand will sure feel a big dent on their lifestyle revenues. But after all, they’re a sports company and still make money from athletic apparel and footwear. If they get lucky, they will also be able to build new partnerships that will give them cultural relevance in the sneaker community but that will sure take time, good management and luck.

The Footwear industry got a whole lot more boring today

Have a bunch of Jordan’s and s*** but Yeezys were my favorites cause they were so different…new silhouettes not from the 80s like all the hot Nike shoes

Foam runners, NSLTD boots, 700 v3s etc etc stuff you’ve never seen before

    Now it’s over

  • Oct 25, 2022

Glad I picked up my foams when I did

Everybody had such a good thing going man

Adidas going to rebrand the Yeezys, keep the price high, and just say a portions of the proceeds go towards fighting hate speech as the new marketing tool

creative genius is a stretch cause as he said himself he's not a creator he's a curator/sampler, he always had the funds to get together a 100 people to collaborate to make something for him, the funds are drying up and people aren't rocking with him anymore, so what's he got now?

Feel bad for John Alexander. He had a good thing going and had the vision to fill that space on YouTube
