The main issue i think with yeat is his disdain for his old stuff and not fully understanding what made it so great in the first place

In his interview he s*** on TikTok music and that BLEW me. So tone deaf now look what we got.

  • Tape has an energy issue. Not bad at all but feels restrained. Private Equity Yeat.

  • Man really a whole alien, I can’t understand a single phrase he’s putting out on his IG stories

Youngboy & grimes on the same song

same exact thing I was thinking

Like I’m not mad at progression but progression is not always automatically good like people think it is, there’s absolutely good and bad types of progression

There are some great songs here, dangerous love specifically is amazing, but everything surrounding the album hurt it. The heavy mafia asthetic doesnt match the music lyrically or sonically. The mainstream album angle made it seem this was gonna be full of radio hits. The notion from yeat that its his best album set expectations too high. Zane lowe interview was a mistake, the slop statement doesn't make any sense here when 2093 has actual world building and a soundscape, and nothing about the song structure of this album feels above up 2 me, afterlyfe, or any of his other albums really.

In the interview yeat said his process to making music was that when he made a song he would never go back to retouch it, it was a result of a moment. He said zack bia taught him you can go back and redo songs and edit them, it made me realize his inate artistry has been compromised.

damn if even you donā€˜t seem to fw it iā€˜m really afraid to listen

at this point i feel he went 15/21 but it really took me 3 listens to appreciate what he was going for

  • I’m back in your city again!

  • What is this phenomena of an artist’s quality getting worse once they hit the mainstream? Typically it would be seen when a mixtape rapper makes their first album.

By no means is this album bad, but I feel like Yeat fell into the above mentioned trap. The energy is super low and I’d say that the creativity is as well. Seems uninspired to me. For instance, tracks 5-7 should have been BANGERS but the energy isn’t there. Same thing with track 2. He’s at the edge but not jumping over anymore.

Gonna keep listening I’ll be at the inevitable concert, just a few hours notice thoughts.

  • Man idk, this album just not for me I guess.

Yeat probably my 2nd or 3rd most listened to artist, and ts just not it…

Gonna give another listen, but damn this might be my least favorite he’s put out
