He’s always been trying to break from whatever the current cultural hegemony is and he does so in sporadic unhealthy ways that alienate everyone. This particular break just doesn’t have positive potential even if you think you can pull out some reasonable point out of all the nonsense. The more aggressively people come at him for this the more he’ll double down.
