reading this post shows you have no understanding of art history, never taken a class on it or anything. which is fine but you are factually incorrect

I have two degrees in visual design & media, therefore took classes in art history. So you can go off and dismiss my opinion, but it still stands and is based on my interpretation of the events. I’m not here for a discussion about semantics, I just doubt the artistic intention of some the performance.

not being facetious when i say this, i actually think it’s dope

i think kanye west definitely attracts people who have mental health issues. me personally, i have been diagnosed with GAD and recently OCD and i’ve been a lifelong fan of ye.

what made me think of this though, is a country girl i know from school who you would 100% not expect to like kanye always posts his songs on her story. and she’s diagnosed bipolar.

i really think there’s something about the music someone with mental health struggles makes that attracts others with similar issues. it like speaks to us in a different way

I like the events, but the definition of performance art is so broad the argument can go both ways. As you say its textbook, I could argue that the TLOP event falls under it as well. A kid who put paint on a canvas made a painting. Doesnt mean I will view it as such.

    Art is vuage you nimrod.

It broadens his creativity from a soundscape perspective.

Donda listening parties were still cheap knock offs of TLOP listening party imo

I really feel like nostalgia has tainted y’all memories of that TLOP listening party. It was really just good vibes lmao, not much happening outside of the music playing and the models standing there

You said the Donda 2 and 3 LPs were ā€œcheap knock offsā€ of the TLOP LP. That’s just not the case when the production value of the Donda shows was much much higher than TLOP’s.

If anything, the TLOP show was the proof of concept for his eventual Donda vision.

You could actually argue that the Vultures shows so far have been cheap imitations of the TLOP show, that would make more sense

  • Feb 26, 2024

Also the iconic image/moment of the TLOP show didn’t even happen on the livestream, I feel like a lotta people forget that or just don’t know that

the whole industry was there, it was an event that brought people together, it was the first of its kind, the rollout followed 3 years of anticipation and a long battle for him to be accepted in fashion, it was extremely celebratory and positive

it was 1000x more cultural than anything ye has done post tlop

I didn’t say anything about its’ cultural significance. Solely talking about the production value between the two.

Calling the Donda shows a cheap knock off is just straight up incorrect when there was much more overall happening at the final two Donda shows
