Donda’s biggest issue is the fact that you can tell it was recorded over the course of like 3 years. There are songs where Kanye mentions he only has 2 kids despite the fact he had 4 at the time of Donda dropping. It was instantly outdsted. On top of the fact that it’s sloppy, it’s far and away the most impersonal album he’s ever dropped. You don’t get any real picture of who Kanye is on Donda because it’s like 4 different versions of him on that one album. As a result, even the songs that are supposed to be personal fall flat.

Donda 2 has musical shortcomings, but just like Ye and JIK they act as great snapshots into exactly who Ye is in that moment.
