JonboiThe initial discussion was about whether being different was underrated or overrated. I highly value it, because if you look at your local music scene, youâll see a hell of a lot of people with technical ability, but it might not mean much to me if they sound like everyone else. Being different takes a lot of bravery. Obviously you need musical ability to go along with it.
But, ya know what, I think weâre talking past each other.
Yeah being different has merit, I just think itâs overrated because most people donât have the ability to back it up. I also doubt that the people who arenât âdifferentâ really have the same league of talent as some musicians that are exetremly succesful, but I could be wrong because A) I donât make music, other types of art. B) I donât know the people youâre talking about. But I donât think we really disagree lol anybody whoâs successful for being different didn't make it because their different.

Donda 2 was easily worst drop to me. Even though I liked parts of it and what he was getting out. I was in theaters for that like "I done f***ed up huh"

Both perspectives are validated
tough to find words that do justice to what im thinking, especially when it comes to music related things. Makes me think of a quote from a french composer who said "there is no theory, you only have to listen, pleasure is the law"
all that matters at the end of the day when it comes to creating art or anything, do whatever you feel is right and stop thinking
