Yea I feel you
I don't really think it's a moral failure or anything, but it's kinda the mark of the beast in art imo, at least in the way ye has used it.
I'm never gonna be like "ummmm dude you can't enjoy that, it's actually AI!" but for me and many others it just feels so cheap, and after s*** like vultures 2 (sum great joints on there tho) and Donda 2 Digital Ass AI Edition, I understand why ye fans are jaded lol.
That being said, I think Bully deluxe is great, feels much more like a "real" album to me now.
I think Ye's usage of it is different to the regular AI music which is generally non artists getting an AI to write a generic song and then using an actual artists vocals, I look it at it as playful instead of desperate and creatively bankrupt
I respect it like a lot of the polarising artistic choices he's done the past decade, it takes me back to when JIK dropped and everyone swore down they didnt bother mixing Follow God despite having done like 20 mixes trying to find the right one that sounded dirty enough, I love that kind of off-kilter passion
I still enjoy his new music but it's clearly far less ambitious than the 2000s and early 2010s, I like that he's tinkering and experimenting nevertheless
it feels cheap because despite how much people hype up the technology it is still cheap and kinda s***ty
Wish we had Cudi on this one here

I can't say I respect it, but it's certainly not as bad as some of these AI "artists" topping the spotify charts
I actually think he probably has recorded a lot of these AI verses with real vocals, and just decided the AI sounds better. Just makes me miss when he would work for hundreds of hours to get the right take, you know?
At some point during the bully process, he apparently took to using Ye-I on his own vocals, which is whatever, but I prefer that 10000x to him putting Ye-I over a reference artist's vox.
Honestly though, as far as I'm concerned, Ye has contributed his share to the art world 10 times over, so he can do whatever he wants in his late career. I'm gonna selfishly nitpick as a fan, but I really can't hate when I zoom out and look at the big picture.

I Ye-I’d your mother pal
I Ye-I’d your mother pal
What does that mean? I'm confused. I thought you were my friend. I thought you were a patriot.

Don’t. Dont do this. Dont make me feel shame.

I'm just asking a question
I was hurt by your post, but I gave you a chance to clarify, and you cowered like a dog.
You're no patriot.

sidebar but this s*** is so corny to me
its ultimately Ye's fault for playing around with AI in the first place, but being excited about vocals being real, not that they make you experience a physical reaction in your body, or they move you emotionally, but that they're real, it feels so disconnected from the sensual experience art is supposed to be
It's a symptom of social media, if it wasn't AI then it would be something else these cornballs are making the music be about besides the actual bodily affair of listening to it and experiencing it
I feel like if she were alive she might disagree with me but Susan Sontag's erotics of art point in Against Interpretation always influences me with stuff like this and this whole discussion about it feels like a distraction from what it should be
In a few years time we could probably look back at the Ye tracker and see 30 versions of each song spanning a couple years with different vocal takes and lyrics, that doesn't make it more valid to me or mean I'm gonna have goosebumps while listening, it shows more time was put in, but like he said with Power he's done 10,000 hours already

He's a streamer he's just clipfarming
Imo the new vocals are definitely way better and I actually like the song now

Like I just didn't find myself listening to the old This One Here except for the times I was listening to the album in full. I've already played the new one like 10+ times.

Sorry I was giving cpr to a dying child cancer patient (who is also an orphan). Things get pretty busy here at the Richard Nixon Memorial Children’s hospital where I volunteer after my shift at the Ronald Reagan Memorial Homeless shelter.
You are my friend. But sometimes, you’re dismissive of my life and my trials. Something to consider.

Took an extremely cursory glance at the Susan Sontag stuff you mentioned, and I agree with the general premise. I guess I see it like this: If someone who's not a mega-stan and has no idea about the AI s*** listens to standard bully This One Here and thinks it's the most beautiful thing in the world, that's awesome, and I don't wanna take that from them. But within the sphere of mega ye nerds who know what it really is, it just kinda takes the punch out of it before it even has the opportunity to give you chills.
You bring up an interesting point by mentioning the fact that 30 real versions of a released AI song could surface. Would the time put into it make it "real art" even if he decides to go with a "fake" version? Personally, I still think it's a bit of an submission, or an admission of defeat. "The robot can do it better than me, no matter how much I work on it".
holy holy holy

He actually rerecorded a lot of the AI believe it or not lol. Whole album has a new mix, Lauryn Hill feature added, 2 new tracks tacked on to the end
