theres songs like NMPILA Saint Pablo and FML that stand out heavy vs billy, but the project in Bully as a whole has alot less misses to tlop to me personally.

Only a slight shame some of the great songs in this project are shorter. if they were 4 mins with another verse it easily makes its way to the conversation.

I appreciate Bully a lot as a return to form after 4 years in the wilderness as a producer. Bully is Kanye doing what he does best and it's really impressive. It's a compulsively listenable 42 minutes and there are only a few songs I'd cut. Like, this is leagues better than Vultures 1 and 2 as well as Donda 2.

But there's still something missing lyrically that Donda, Pablo and KSG had. Those albums were very purposeful and had something clear to say. They were autobiographically insightful and the highs on those records are right up there with peak Kanye. That's a level of artistry and purpose that Bully teases at but doesn't feel fully committed to.

I don't think that's all Kanye's fault, I think the main issue is that these songs are really old and plucked from different eras so he's not able to come at them with the same level of urgency and purpose as his best work. Bully primarily is a celebration of Kanye as a great producer, but he doesn't give that internal perspective that he gave when he was the best artist in the world. Hopefully next time the stars align and it happens.
