There are certain rap niggas that are either respected or feared by many mainstream industry rappers because of how dangerous they are on the mic. I can name 5 guys who will destroy any rapper living or dead

  • Jan 13, 2024

    Drake is hip hop

Mos Def is better than Drake

Just for the sake of argument if 80% of your discography is rap, and 20% is pop. What’s that make you?

Drake was remixing Lykke Li, Santigold and Peter Bjorjn and John songs on his big debut project.

One of the biggest songs on his debut album was Find Your Love and every year since then he’s been having at least 2-3 pop songs to an album.

Drake even said it on Calabasas “Mike never tried to sing like Pac. Pac never tried to sing like Mike.”

He clearly wants to exist in both lanes he even acknowledges competing with Taylor Swift on SH3 lol

I love how mad the pop label still makes people in 2024

As if many of the most acclaimed, influential and successful artists in the world aren't making pop music

Also this, I feel like niggas have been saying rap is the new pop for almost a decade

Plenty of hip hop legends were already doing this

It’s called “product placement” and it’s been a thing for decades in media

It is not that it isn’t expected and a part of the game, but in terms of this conversation, “Wick Man” may be one of Drake’s most insightful records in a long time and he hid that on a deluxe of his latest album. Outside of that record, what is the audience leaving a Drake record with?

Mind you, I’m a big fan and have been rocking in the Drake sxn since early KTT1. I can also acknowledge that there is a very clear decision being made to not make his lyrics contain lasting material that isn’t made in collaboration to push products.

all these shambles about being labeled pop comes from looking down on pop as an artform, but im gonna be quiet…

Ppl are mindfucked into thinking Katy Perry is the only prototype for being a pop star is the problem.

Someone mentioned it before I forgot who but the big 3 represent a trifecta of Hip Hop rn

    Drake: Pop
    J.Cole: Hip Pop
    Kendrick: Hip Hop

It was weird but I do think there is truth to it

I got to say as much as I love that Drake is consistently dropping it would be interesting to see the landscape if he took an extended hiatus to see what sort of direction the genre went and the reception upon his return

F*** that, Drakes make better hiphop music than those two other guys.

The areas overlap, always have. People are just so category focused when it comes to music.

Asked a straightforward question. You acting like I brought up sales or something.

    You also didn’t answer it.

Also you bring up his “biggest” songs is literally bringing up numbers and stats…..
