Its jus the sasori and diedara argument
I always agreed with diedara. Art is all about the current moment

thats fair, do u think it stems from a desire to like wanting to keep your music/process 'pure' by not looking back?

Exactly, like if u make ur art in a vacuum itll be a lot more original
Obv its good to learn s*** from others but thats not the important part. Its best to have solidified your own identity and style

streaming is the biggest thing next to TikTok right now, even big YouTubers are just uploading edited streams now lol

I empathize with that and def think its true to some extent but idk if I think a vacuum can exist in art, everyones pulling from somewhere even when they think they're being original and I cant think of many places where a musician would be hurt from pulling from a wider range of influences. A lot of the best s*** ever came from weird mish mashs of already established genres

True yea inspiration is very crucial, helps to develop taste which is everything for an artist
But i think theres diminishing returns the farther back u go, which is why i say to study your contemporaries
Wow
I coulda worded it better what i meant is for artists studying old art isnt essential

Okay but what happened to him
I feel like studying old s*** is not necessary
Ridiculous bro. Thats the only way you actually push this s*** forward in a meaningful way
Deidara was too focused on the moment and the spectacle and ultimately wont be remembered because he failed to make a real impact (killing sasuke). Which is what will happen as an artist if you only study what other ppl are doing

Anyone who studies art history will be a better artist
It isn’t the dividing factor between a good and bad artist but being a knowledgeable and informed person can push you across that threshold

Im sure a lot of dope artists didnt study that hard
Artists have a certain spirit and taste that doesnt necessarily come from older works
