Wonder what absurd way they'll have Ichiban know english in hawaii
the gamer outrage merchant getting to voice someone as amazing as kiryu don't sit right with me but i always play these games in japanese anyway
just finished yakuza 4, woooow, what a step up from 3
big fan of this one even though it had it's issues. getting to see the story unfold from 4 perspectives and trying to piece things together for yourself with the information you gained from new perspectives was really cool. the 3 new characters were all enjoyable and unique too.
akiyama - 🐐🐐🐐 so cool, he could've easily carried the game by himself imo. the best written of the 3 new characters and his portion of the game was the best paced too. his relationship with money was very interesting and added a ton of depth to his character
saejima - probably had the best opening of any of the characters and i was immediately invested in his story. the problem was his section of the game was too short and so i didn't feel like i got to spend enough time with him
tanimura - solid character but i wasn't too invested in him. his section of the game had the worse pacing of the 4 and kinda dragged. fun fighting style though
more of a classic, twists and turns type yakuza story and i really enjoyed it. katsuragi was a great lead villain, super menacing and cold.
the scene where you find out that katsuragi was the one who killed all those ueno seiwa members and you watch him put a bullet in each of their heads was one of the most gruesome things i think i've seen in a game
when kido turned on katsuragi and then arai turned on kido and then katsuragi had on the bulletproof vest
yasuko, i liked her character even though her becoming a serial killer in hopes of clearing saejima's name didn't really make a whole lot of sense
even though i liked the 4 perspectives, i do think a big negative of that is that it does kinda feel like you never make that much progress with each character. having to do side stories to unlock certain areas you already had access to on another character or having areas completely locked off until you were playing as a certain character didn't feel that great to me. this happens in other games too, so it's not a problem with rgg's implementation, it's just a flaw of that system in general
my other problem was part of the combat, god damn were there some annoying fights in this one. i play all these games on normal and in this one it's like they turned up the ai dodge and grab actions by like 20x
i couldn't tell you how many times enemies grabbed me out of combos or grabbed me as i was falling and basically stunlocked me. the dodging was insane too, so many of the bosses just had instant dodges and you might get 1 or 2 hits on them at a time, especially in tanimura's final fight at the end. that is probably the worst fight in any of these games that i've played so far
the end was
seeing everything come together was awesome, though i don't really understand daigo's role. i get that he was willing to basically sell out the tojo clan to the police in order to preserve the clan, but at the end it seemed like kiryu just beat some sense into him and all was good? i like daigo so i don't really mind, i just feel like there should've been a bit more there
overall a really good experience and one of my favorite stories so far. i've heard a lot about how big yakuza 5 is, so i'm really excited for it

The middle entries are a bit overhated by some but I oove them. Take a break. 5 is the longest in the series.
daigo playable

We not hiding playable characters behind pre order bonuses I hope

apparently it’s only for the arena mode from 7. i haven’t played 7 yet so idk how big of a deal that is. it will probably be separate dlc too tho
