Mac was a mainstream rap artist getting regular radio play how wasn't he bigger he was doing feats with mega established stars like the internet gives you a false inflation of one's popularity no cap.

no he wasn't bro, he was slowly growing a fanbase and his success was on the same level as Thundercat's is rn

You're not wrong he was doing feats with bigger artists, and getting some hits, but that came earlier in his career

Overtime he slowly grew a fanbase and got more people following him when he was making more serious music, and wanted a more serious direction

X was huge from the jump, he went viral and over two years got a gigantic following. I didn't see that with Mac

I mean yeah i probably could have picked a better alternative but still, even though they both had a cult following i feel like X was seen as some sort of messiah out here to save the youth. I'm just wondering why X of all people

He was s***ty as a person and edgy people love darkness

From all people in the world i don't understand why the youth gravitated to X so much. He has done horrible things even though i believe he actually was on a path of bettering himself

But there were many more artists who made the same type of music depressed teens could relate with that had much more of an positive vibe around them like Juice WRLD

It’s literally because sociopaths are great at winning people over in that way and making people follow/idolize them. And I hate that this is how the world is but it’s been true since Charles Manson. I would compare X to a cult leader before any artist

Why do people not of the 90s generation try to compare him to Tupac if they weren't around to experience him?.

    It goes both ways

I don't agree with that either, but like think of how people that didn't experience Pac listen to his music and miss the point of his appeal or the impact he had as a whole person. For Pac it's clearer since he's timeless and cemented legend status, but X is one of those many "you just had to be there" dudes. It's all up for time to decide if X will be remembered fondly, not people who don't care for him. Trust me when I say it annoys me when people of my generation speak against Pac's impact as much as it annoys me when people not of my generation speak against X's impact.

If he was Tupac for his generation he would of still been relevant

Not true Tupac had time to put down roots so when he passed people had a body of work to look back on, x had a gang of SoundCloud songs and a couple albums
