Someone explain to me why the victims don’t just say who abused them

probably the same reason nobody would've believed someone accusing bill cosby like that 10 years ago even though it was a known secret

lot of victims get killed for doing that

also it might f*** up potential court cases but i might be making that up

1. A lot of the victims were probably abused by people who are no-names to the average person, much less a teenager

2. Even if they did know the names, and I'm sure they obviously know the names of some, the risk you take on by implicating powerful people as a regular woman is huge

And to that last point, I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of victims haven't even come out as a victim for that same reason

Bill Cosby was an entertainer, had star power and was loved by people. They couldn't believe he was a monster. Now with Epstein, anyone getting targeted by the victims will not be questioned if it is true or not because most will believe them. Only one that's not going to be believed in fully, is Trump by the MAGA cult but otherwise no one else is safe

I'm so confused about Trump's influence in the Senate and what happened today. Did not look according to Johnson/Trump's plan

It seemed like the expectation Johnson signaled earlier was that the Senate would hold the bill up or press for changes. Majority Leader Thune seemingly did not care, declined to touch it and let Schumer move to skip the need for a vote with unanimous consent. Now Johnson's "disappointed." GOP in Senate wanted absolutely nothing to do with this. In fact all 100 Senators let this through without their names attached

If Trump was supposedly so willing to immediately sign whatever got to his desk, why is Johnson reacting like that?

I can't believe they chose this route. There's no way Trump bluffed so hard that he's going to need to veto this.........right? I'm holding out on this

My expectations days ago was that it'd pass the house solidly, fail or struggle badly in the Senate and be vetoed by Trump, essentially killing it because Congress wouldn't have the 2/3 overturn

The issue with Trump "supporting" now is that it passed through all 535 members of the legislative branch in mere hours with only 1 "no" and unanimous Senate consent. That's a veto-proof margin Congress/Senate would have otherwise struggled with if he didn't support the bill.......

I don't believe him. We'll see what happens. I think the Trump administration will do something and we won't get the full truth. It just doesn't make sense how he was against this and then did a 180 the last minute.

It’s just kicking the can down the road. In the long term, there’s very little they can do to kill interest in these files. Schumer, Massie, Khanna, etc… are aware of these potential tricks and will continue to make this a problem

The long term matters far more than now. They’re not going to easily hand over docs and only have bad to horrible options on how to manage it. Doing this will backfire
