Nothing the mlb could do here it was only a matter of time. you cant have teams traveling from city to city and not expect this to happen.

NFL needs to do a bubble like the NBA and stick to that format or they will have to cancel as well

They don’t wanna see us win.

not entirely sure about this. again I go back to the soccer point and they do a lot of traveling and did it successfully across entire continent for 2 months.

I think it is ultimately down to bad testing protocols that allowed this to happen.

  • Jul 27, 2020

NFL cant do a bubble, the # of personnel required would be about 100 per team when factoring in coaches, reserves, and full rosters. 3200 is too many in 1 place + 32 fields would be required for practice.

Rogah needs to focus on getting testing as tight as it can be, scare the players into avoiding partying all together, and have good protocols in place for what to do when a player tests positive.

Manfred needs to contain this spread and figure out if rest of teams are still healthy

I mean in the us we still have major hotspots and people not following basic human requirements (masks & Social distance). So when major league teams come and go its gonna cause problems.

Ill agree the testing is probably lackluster im sure.

But in brazil they are still playing soccer and idk how. Idk if they are in bubbles I dont pay attention enough to find out

yeah there are lots unknowns for sure. in the UK for example, I dont think anybody followed protocols as much as in US even. there wasn't this stigma around distancing/masks that has developed in US. very laxed environment from what ive heard from friends - and they've done better than US and of course successfully completed 2 month seasons. sounds like Brazil is doing similar with success.

I guess Florida is really the issue - its a hotspot, and players aren't staying safe enough by avoiding all external factors (very difficult to do unless you stock up on food for months and literally just go to-from games).

Well this didn't age well, just 15 hrs later we're talking about the fate of this season, this game already cancelled

I really wanted to see the Phillies get swept after they lost to Marlins

At 9:00 PM on March 11th, there was no serious discussion about suspending the NBA season either

At 9:31 PM the tweet went out

20-30 years from now this year in the record books tho.

"guys remember that year when MLB could've owned the summer as the only sport on TV, but instead argued about salaries for 2 months, then agreed to a 60 game season, then at the last minute allowed majority of the regular season teams into the playoffs, then didnt study how other leagues that came back before them across europe/asia committed to testing, then didnt properly prepare testing protocols, and this was all after Manfred said winning the World Series trophy didnt matter in the face of a cheating scandal"

Well said, and just to add on top of that, the baseball gods couldn't handle the Marlins having a positive record

  • Jul 27, 2020

i think everyone saw this coming after players who were practicing and even playing in games tested positive afterward. i thought it'd be at least a week of games before cancellations though..

doolittle called it right before the season that it wouldnt work with current testing protocols (it took him like 5 days to get his results)

What I don’t get is how were the players fielding and being next to each other on the field without a mask, s*** was frustrating to see.
