I loved American Vandal, the true crime premise for this sounds interesting, and I like the title. I’m IN
I’ll wait for the third trailer drop before I s*** on it, learned from Lanterns.
Yeah Lanterns was looking spooky
if ya ever seen American Vandal, you'll understand why having the same creative team behind that but now using the characters and settings of the DC universe to essentially make American Vandal S3 is an amazing and inspired idea. Even bringing back one of the actors from S1 as Grodd.
It's going to surprised a lot of people
Interested but this is the least exciting live action thing announced so far.
Flash should be in this as a cameo at least but he won’t be
We’ll get it but as a red blur watch
Like conceptually I like the idea of this show
But do we need it now? Over say a Batman, Wonder Woman, or even Titans project?

They had it planned for a while so I guess it makes sense to release now but yeah kind of a weird thing to drop this early into the DCU.
Never really had an issue with an Olsen-run show or Daily Planet setting. Its a cool way to use HBO Max in a side-story way or investigate elements of DCU. Gunn's Daily Planet post thing was pretty cool too
I don't really get the title or the need to unpack Grodd in this way (of all characters too) though. This deep dive is just something that I would want to see in a Flash film. Why are we bonding Grodd to Metropolis like this and making the title after him?
I like the original title better:
American Villain: Grodd
cause it could work as an anthology series regarding villains and it's a callback to American Vandal ofc. But maybe they wanted to lean more into the mockumentary side of things with the name

i's quick and easy to make. It starts filming in september and probably will take little effort to do compared to those titles

This is kinda what I meant title wise yeah. Big fan of anthologies.
The title reminds of American Crime Story S1 and i wonder if they just end up following the same formula: The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story .... Maybe this is where the "DC Crime" title came from at first? Adding it at the end would make it similar
dead at this being one of his first pitched ideas
No Batman
No Wonder Woman
Odd that Gunn says this is one of the first things he pitched. But he didn’t even mention it during his original release slate announcement
And considering he considers this “true crime” I’m curious to what the tone will be . Will it be a Gunn-esque comedy, or a dramedy

Good point…why didn’t he have it listed in his slate?

Maybe it's cheap, Warner Brothers are cheap, biggest difference since Discovery bought them, Paramount are going to be the same.
Wouldn't be surprised if they have a tight budget to work with.
Someone please kill James Gunn already
Rather see new s*** instead of the same old s*** everyone has seen a million times
