Honestly the reason why the MCU worked for as long as it did is because Kevin isn’t a writer or a director. He’s a producer he’s not sitting there coming up with scripts or making visual choices

His job is: I want to make this movie and I want this person to write and this person to direct. He’s the GM. The directors and writers would be the coaching staff and the actors are the players.

As much as I've critiqued Gunn as exec, I'm not fully convinced him as Co-CEO just doesn't work. He needs a partner to just temper some of his ideas and round them out to good business decisions. Someone who will argue him and force consensus

PETER SAFRAN is supposed to be doing this, but I have no clue what he adds to this studio. His track record on CBM's post-Aquaman is abysmal I don't get how he is still around this. They still need a Hollywood suit to really understand what fans want and merge with Gunn's creativity, but I imagine Gunn/Safran are a packaged deal at this point.

Its hard to just build off 1 guy's senses or even have 1 writer handle a whole film. This is from Iron Man alone:

You have a point there. I think Safran is just letting him do whatever creatively and is handling more of the business and promotional aspects if I had to guess.

I know there is MORE to DC than just Gunn and Safran however, having a creative at the top would kind of make it harder for his creative instincts not to take over. There is a danger with every project becoming more like a James Gunn project than the director's.

I mean look at what we heard about Supergirl, yes it didn't seem like it was going to be a home run either way, but it still felt like a Gunn film in many aspects (atmosphere and music being the big ones)
