Great basically hour long interview with James.
Noted that Episode 8 of this season of Peacemaker is as important as anything for Man of Tomorrow
Noted that Superman is more comic-booky than Man of Tomorrow is
Man of Tomorrow is slightly tonally different than Superman
Loves the mashup of different genres and seeing characters go from one genre to the other.
Says he's watching dailies of Clayface all the time and is like "this is totally different"
Says that he's been watching episodes of Lanterns and that "it's very grounded but not grounded in the same sort of comedic f***ed up way as Peacemaker but grounded in a much more serious way"
Says the DCU is less about "oh let's tell this big overarching story that everything is going to lead to this moment and there's things that are like that but the DCU is much more about creating a universe that people can enter into and exist at any point in time". Similar to Star Wars.
Thinks Lex as a character is really interesting. Despite everything there is something incredibly heroic about Lex. Take aside morality. His ambition and jealousy are beyond compare.
There's not a great thing about Lex but it makes him full. He's so much more full than most of these villains in these movies because he's got his reasons for everything.

I’m not buying Gunn acting like this universe is in any way trying to tell self-contained stories when he keeps hyping up future projects like this.
People (rightfully) gave Marvel s*** for going off the rails and making TV shows that were glorified homework for future movies, and the DCU is seemingly going down that same path already

I feel like (hoping it’s like this) it’ll be a this is important for Man of Tomorrow but not actually homework / you NEED to see this or you can’t enjoy the movie
I feel like that’s what he means when he says DCU won’t be like that. Tryna find a balance of here’s a reward / pay off for watching this but the people who didn’t aren’t necessarily going to have a worse time
Idk tho

People think Lex might have a cameo in season 2 of Peacemaker. You don’t HAVE to see the cameo to enjoy and understand Man of Tomorrow.
“It isn't just episode 5, the entire season has been building up to this sci-fi / fantasy a***og for suicide.
• In episode 1, Chris literally kills his (alternate) self.
• His dead father and brother are waiting for him in a "better" place.
• Chris' feelings of hopelessness, and that he has no future in his world
• Chris' recklessness and disregard for his own well being
• Going to a "better" place, the "goodbye" note, and his friend's reactions to it
So far, S2 has surprised me in a way I definitely wasn't expecting.“
“Also the hail marry with harcourt. Suicidal people will often use a crazy last ditch decision as a sign that they aren’t wanted”
