JeffersonSteelflexWith that logic we can say Kanye’s early work is a Tribe Nostalgia act. We all know Kanye had the overall best discography in hip hop nobody is discrediting that. All I’m saying is that est 2017, Tyler is probably the best artist in hip hop right now. He continues to drop great albums all created by him. Kanye puts in 40% of the work these days and that’s all I’m saying .

The biggest song on an album =/= the best song on that album
Especially because Tyler isn’t even really a super mainstream accessible artist, of course the song with the YB feature would be the biggest
you realize tyler IS a mainstream artist right. His albums go no.1. His songs chart on billboard and his records go gold and platinum. Hes not some underground artist, & at this point hes almost a legacy act

Pretentious "real music" Tyler fan type of response lol. I listen to all kinds of music. Those three albums just arent all that to me.

his last 2 albums haven’t really brought me back musically, but I don’t think it’s fair to call his attention to a new theme/visual for every album a gimmick. It seems like he really really enjoys every aspect of what he makes.

2. Not a Tyler fanboy at all, didn’t even become of a fan of his until IGOR
3. You’d have to be very narrow minded to truly believe NBA Youngboy has a better album than IGOR
Also, me saying those three albums are the best rap body of work from 2017-now doesn’t mean I’m sitting around listening to Tyler all day every day, he’s not one of my most listened to artists whatsoever. I listen to every artist on that list (besides Youngboy) way more than Tyler overall. But Tyler’s work post-2017 has not been touched yet as far as rap goes

CampariI wonder how many times he’ll remind us about “chords progressions & “arrangements” before telling us he’s better than his hip hop contemporaries who only use 808s.
Tyler has, to my knowledge, not said he was “better” than other rappers ever. He said he felt rap wasn’t being pushed as far as it could be in 2015, but that’s a very different statement, and he has always maintained his love for the music and the people who make it.
I swear, the narrative that he thinks he’s better than other rappers is just rappers getting insecure about his passion and production choices and projecting.
Tyler loves hip hop and has shown his love to other rappers plenty of times.
