    I don't get it.
I love a good cliffhanger, and it makes sense to do it for a musical that has an actual intermission baked into it.
There's examples where it's been done poorly, but it's not automatically bad as some sort of rule.

They did the entire story in a 2.5 broadway show. If greedy producers want to somehow split that up into two parts -- when this first movie is already longer than the broadway version -- then yes they can go f*** themselves. People who gouge the public for money like this for zero reason should be executed on live television for everyone's enjoyment

The actual broadway musical is shorter than this part 1 movie excluding the intermission

I mean this is also adapting a 500+ page book not just the musical

No. The screenplay writer is the the same guy who penned the stage show. It was even said the reason behind splitting the movie into two parts is because they want the first part to end where act 1 of the broadway show ended, and that having the movie continue after that would be "anti-climactic". All the crew working on this movie have referred to it as a stage to screen adaptation.

It is the same loose adaptation of the novel that the original broadway show was

Isn’t Broadway shows and movies different? Just a thought…

I personally wouldn’t enjoy seeing someone get executed on live tv, maybe they can market it to an asylum
