    martian master

Scorpion did 572K in stream units alone
CLB did 562K in stream units alone

Even if fans were mass buying 4 copies of physicals (which they weren't), stream units alone he's doing more than 400K before and after the rule change @op

Yeah digital duplications are no longer counted

Nobody cares about Kendrick Lamar except Pitchfork tastemakers and their followers. That is the uncomfortable truth.

Pitchfork doesn't seem to care much for Kendrick these days as well.

Kendrick fans blaming everybody else as usual

This post is so stupid, I don't even know where to start from. Drake did 575k units from streaming alone with CLB. He doesn't need pure sales to do the numbers he does.

Digital dupes are no longer counter

Tell him to do a rollout without gimmicks next time (meme album cover, fake beefs, promoting his album for 1 year and delaying it multiple times, album full of radio friendly songs and many popular features, revealing album features with billboards, corny haircut etc) 😂

    youre jobless

No one was listening to CLB because of the Kanye stuff, it was listened to because it was a Drake album, this is just clearly not true.

Next they'll say people only streamed Scorpion because of Pusha T. I wonder why they'll say people streamed Views and every other Drake album. The excuses in this thread are mind-blowing.

kendrick stans so mad lmfao, cant wait for drake to do a perfect rollout and drop a milli

Drake promoted that s*** for over a year lmao

    That's not a rollout.

What's a rollout then? I keep seeing this discussion, and I realized that anything that gets people talking is a rollout.

Beyonce changed that scope heavily with her surprise drop. You don't need to spend millions on a long drawn out marketing campaign.

  • mangotflu

It is advertising but you can't seriously think those CLB billboards did much. They didn't state it's a Drake album, didn't state the release date.. it just stated vague announcements about the features on it.

The only people it was advertising to was hardcore rap fans, but they were all aware about the album dropping regardless.

how many extra sales do you think CLB got from those billboards? I doubt it even improved sales by 1%. People overrate the effect of billboards, look at the Piers Morgan debacle a few weeks ago in the UK

It didn't matter if he put up those bill boards or not. That was just to let fans know what features would be on the album. It had the same effect as him announcing the features on Views on his IG before the album dropped.

Yeah, but it doesn't affect streaming. The only changes Billboard has made to streaming has helped artists in the US who can pull a lot of streams. For an artist like Drake, the 2 changes (making paid tier streams 3,750/sale vs free tier 1,250 streams/sale) and adding YouTube streams to the Billboard will only help his streaming numbers lol.
