Different era, it was Rihanna, Chris was at the peak of his popularity and so was Ri.
There were several reports of Dre beating women (some in the 90s) but he was mostly scutinised for it today rather than when these leaked out. He got s*** for it apparently but it’s mostly talked about these days
He did actually go through it long time ago and was away for a while
He's fully faced it tho in interviews and docs and him and his ex's have reconciled which is probably why Im guessing - he didn't hide from it or trying to ignore it
But also, if it was more recent I do think he would be shunned harder - his actions was just before major social media

Because Dre pops up randomly like every 5 years and isn’t really even relevant to the generation of people who call for protests on social media
Also most people, including Rihanna herself, have forgave Chris
It's the industry themselves and their advertisers that are still weary of him to a degree
He's "black balled" moreso than cancelled of the last decade imo

Well to be fair it ain’t like he cleaned up his act. He’s volatile as a f*** and even aside from Rihanna situation not exactly a clean image to be associated with since then

this and there’s no disturbing picture like there is with rihanna. also Chris is a habitual a******

Plus society wasn't respectful of women during the 90s.
Especially when the 90s was filled with harsh scandals.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but I'm just saying people as in public aren't really on Chris like that anymore and from my own anecdote I hear n see people moreso call for the industry to "lighten up" on him now at this point
But yeah I agree, Chris has other issues beyond just Rihanna - heard he's difficult to work with plus he's gotten into it with a lot of male artists, and gets possessive of ex's that are still in the industry that cause business friction
Dre is an OG and dark skinned
Breezy light skin and hit on the most poppin chick in the game
Iss different crowds dawg
The generation of people who were supposed to hold him accountable didn’t until ours did.
Different times for sure but he also handles himself with more grace than Chris Brown does in 2025 so people are more likely to overlook it
Same with Steve Austin!

Dre is not dark skinned lol what
Chris brown still feels the repercussions. Dre has everyone applauding him
He made his billion before people cared

Wasn't there just a picture taken of him choking some other lady out in public?
Dana White b****slapped his wife in the club & probably gave himself a raise afterwards bro
Chris Brown had plenty of opportunities
to come back in the spotlight but he kept f***ing it up for himself personally and musically. End of story.

Too a degree.
But I think it's also because you didn't see people nor hear of them all the time.
It's like when people say "how did they let Kelly get away with Aaliyah back then" but you have to think of how media was then, not now. You only heard about Kelly (or Dre etc.) issues during a few times news segment you can't play back or an interview/docuseries expose' that was played only a few times in a month then never again. All while you yourself have to put in the effort to catch any of this, then further effort to remember it.
It was just easier for ish to get swept up or not focused on. But with social media you are now always being reminded of it while it's happening in real time and anyone can make content about it now. Which is why we're more harder on abusers that also actually get punished for it too. We don't forget or miss it now, and they can't run away or sweep it now.
People always cared imo, but people weren't always fully aware. And people can do a lot more to actually affect celeb careers now than they could back then.
