Was randomly listening to Don’t Look Any Further which is a mf classic in its own right and also kind of led me down a rabbit hole

I ended up watching a clip of this interview with Siedah Garett talking about how bro was coked out of his mind
also didn’t know Chaka Khan was originally supposed to be on there

but also led me to listening to Hit Em Up which is an iconic diss track with an incredible sample of Don’t Look Any Further

Then I found myself listening to Get Money remix that also samples Don’t Look Any Further which certainly was intentional even though I never really thought about the context of it but made it even more interesting to me and made me think on a broader level how unique and beautiful it can be

Then fast forward almost thirty years later and the original Push Ups leak sampled the Get Money remix which was sampled by Don’t Look Any Further so it really drives home how not only is all of it relating to each other but just genuinely f***ing cool how these amazing old songs can always find new life in the genre

Don’t Look Any Further has actually been sampled quite a few times forreal other unrelated but still great songs in their own right. Really just speaks to how generational quite literally the song is

THIS IS NOT A BEEF THREAD. PLEASE LEAVE ALL THAT FOR ANOTHER THREAD. I just wanted to highlight a cool full circle moment that I randomly found myself in and give people a space to share any other dope samples/interpolations they love. This genre is really beautiful yall and I know there are 100 negative threads a week about it but I just wanted to share my 1 positive one with yall

Hip hop is history in music. It is a ledger of everything from the biggest to the most minuscule events in history since its inception.
Yeah I love making playlist centered around original samples and the different songs that flipped them throughout history.

to back to the Midwest you get a lot of different sounds … god hiphop is just different and it sickens me how the media has turned it as of recent

Real ones know though like you can misconstrue and narrate all you want but once someone spit a 16 on a dope beat it’s all you need to be reminded

Gotta call it what it is, if it's the best/favorite KTT shouldn't influence the degree of how you enjoy something. Even if it get a little weird

It’s really crazy to think about even with sampling there is no other genre of music that you can directly discover older music and other genres through. Maybe dance music?
You’ll hear the influence of older sounds/ different genres in music from other genres but hip hop sampling literally opens a window to the past and other genres for people.

I'll never forget Madlib turning one great song:

It’s perpetual. It’s inevitable. It’s the gift that keeps on giving
