frank be getting away w some nonsense at times but it’s nowhere near as prevalent as this thread tries to paint it or other posters
imo frank can get away with it because his abstract lyrics can always be interpreted back to the theme of the song or a previous line.
travis doesnt have the depth in writing to get away with it. he is quite literally at times just saying random s*** and theres nothing to even try to dig deeper at. birds especially is full of it

yeah don’t get me wrong i don’t think him and Travis are even remotely comparable, Frank has shown the ability to write beautifully pre-Blonde (not to say that there aren’t greatly written songs on Blonde too, but i think all of his well written songs def assisted with the perception of his songwriting before that album) his writing is shining everywhere from Endless to Channel Orange for sure
it’s just sometimes on Blonde it really seems like he’s throwing words together and essentially leaving it up for the stans to clean it up and make a meaning out of it, versus having its own discernible meaning from the jump, but it’s literally only like a line or two every other song imo
