The reason for protecting small businesses is because they don’t have the same limited liability protections that large corporations have. Large corporations can treat workers however poorly they want. If the workers at a certain location don’t like it, the corporation can just shut that location down.

The small business model gives employees far more leverage at the end of the day either through courts or personal negotiations with employers. Businesses always focus on the bottom line and small businesses are no different tho
