I'm not even kidding, this is something I've noticed.

Why do people do this? Why did being a "die hard fan" turn into "stanning"? and what are the reasons that this develops from someone just being a music consumer?

Does it stem from insecurities about liking an artist?

    Few circumstances:

    • I left a few comments in a Drake thread last night (not even making fun of Drake or his music) just making quoting an avi and 3-4 different people swarm me and straight up just go all in at me calling me "reetarded" or "an loser" or "virgin"

    • in some Kanye threads I was in a few months ago someone actually posted my face into the thread that I posted in the "post pictures of yourself" thread I'm pretty sure I didn't even do anything to anger anyone either.

    • Lucki era, where one of those freaks actually called my work and almost got me fired (can't make this up).

That unnamed user we all know would message me at midnight "fuck you, loser, cac, virgin, etc" all because I said his favorite artist sucked ass

I mean you can't make this s*** up, are these people mentally ill? Why does someone take defending an artist THIS far? It's just music at the end of the day...

Need some answers, where does being a fan become delusion? Why is this becoming more of a thing as time goes on?

When you would legitimately consider voting for them in a presidential election

Not really, music helps people escape their daily struggles, hardships & the harshness that is reality

There’s nothing wrong with being a diehard supportive fan, especially if you love the art & it makes you feel good

I think the term “stan” gets blown out of proportion, people confuse being a diehard fan with those weirdo mentally ill fans that try to break into artists houses & stuff

People who like music that reflects a person also feel a connection to said person? What the f***

Honestly Never stanned an artist but I’ve probably came pretty close w Kanye cause he’s been my favorite since I was like 9/10

tbh i think it’s legitimately a problem if you’re a grown person and you’re a proper die hard fan for that artist when most likely that artist is a s***ty person like the people u mentioned (kanye my fav artist and i love quite a bit of drake’s music). i think just being a fan of their music (fashion in kanye case) is enough but you don’t need to be sucking them off

There’s a difference between being a die hard fan, and being an obsessive weirdo who defends an artist from any and all criticism and gasses up everything they do like its your job.

The way I see it having a favorite artist is essentially being a Stan, how far you take it just depends on the person

One of those Lucki stans somehow got my information, called my job up and tried to speak to me. No joke.

They live vicariously through these people and their success. S*** is cute when you're 12 or 13 but these are grown ass men worshipping these rappers.
