I think it's getting much better now than it was before. But it's just that this is a pretty White-dominated industry.
So many minorities will find it much harder to break in not just Asians.
I do like the recent surge of Asian artists, directors, and actors on the come up. I didn't really see much of this as a kid.
And I think when you band a group of minorities together to create a platform it can be quite powerful. 88rising is dope and they have helped a lot of Asian creatives get some limelight.
I also really like Justin Chon, if one of his films get picked up by a bigger distributor he could really be a catalyst for actual representation of Asian Americans in cinema and not that Crazy Rich Asian stuff.
I mean Parasite swept the biggest and most prestigious American film awards this year lol...
Steven Yeun on the come up
I'm not American but far as music goes early Youtube up until late 2010s was filled with corny dudes like Timothy DeLaGhetto and Lil Crazed. Quite a few instrumentalists and producers throughout different genres but never the frontman.
Actors, like most minorities, are usually typecast (seductive woman, martial artist, grocery shop owners, nerd)
Not too many western born asians were making it in sports or choose it as a career path, culturally the asian immigrant parent discourages that type of thing, treating it as a risk.
nigahiga, d-pryde, etc
Xenophobia and Asians are the most casually discriminated against group in America. This was all true even before covid 19. Now it’ll be worse.
This is true.
Asian people also seem to just move on the down low in general.

i like this topic
I feel like Asian people are an anomaly in certain areas.
Like in my town it's kinda rare to see Asians unless you're near the university campus or at a Chinese restaurant.
WHERE DO THEY ALL GO?
I think Hispanics get it worse
Given that there r more Hispanic ppl than black ppl in America
tv show Ramy is litearlly the only representation muslims get btw besides the representation by ISIS
But for real tho, I tried to think of a single asian making it in entertainment but I couldn’t
Jeremy Lin
Nigahiga
Kevjumba
Rich Brian
Filthy Frank AKA Joji
Ricegum
these are the lames you want representing asian ppl in America? I’m good.
At least we got nigo (who isn’t asian American but is def a part of American pop culture)
and eddie huang and all the other Asian chefs
Nigahiga, the number 1 youtuber in America, exists.
people still watch him?
