Ima be real wit you, this is all jokes aside. I think if you’re a person who cares about tv/films or just black culture in general, it’s valuable/important to see the journey of black films and how far we’ve came.
That doesn’t mean you gotta watch EVERY black movie ever made, but more so the essentials.
And this extends past movies, goes for music, art, history, politics in general. I’m just all for us educating ourselves about our history, and black cinema is apart of our history.
With all that being said, you aren’t obligated to liking any film just cus it’s ‘black made’ or considered a black classic.
Imagine being mad at this post. Literally never said “oh you haven’t seen such and such you aren’t black!!”
