People here grew up with Wayne so I dont expect them to speak objectivly but by what criteria is Wayne better than Em?

Wayne hasnt had an interesting single since Carter 4. He hasnt himself released a good album in forever.

I would argue that Wayne has had a better run when rapping on other peoples music but making ur own songs and creating ur own albums, Em had been way more consistent.

    That’s just my opinion tho

wayne has definitely seen better days but to say em is more consistent is nuts

If it’s in the context of “Wayne put on young money” Omarion was already a household name and Lloyd’s career was basically over by the time he went to YM

true but its no small feat putting on 3 soon to be multi diamond artists.

Eminem only hasn’t had an objective great album since 2002. Do the math

Wayne hasn’t had one since 2008

I gotta give it to Wayne, though. I think both are extremely overrated in the all time discussion but Wayne has slightly more highs and slightly less lows.

They’re much closer than you think

A lot of amazing songs and rapping and a lot of unlistenable trash

Em broke down racial barriers & the way mainstream conformed to him probably paved the path for a lot of how the game works today, inc Waynes fanbase & acceptance of styles like Kanye & Drake.

They both pretty dogshit at this point but I have more faith in Eminem potentially delivering a good verse or album more than wayne atp. Wayne has ruined way more songs he has featured on than Em too.

For better or worse I think overall impact is Em. Rap simply woudnt have become as mainstream as it was had it not been delivered to suburban white people by a rapper who’s skill actually matched his popularity

Lil Wayne is legit better than Eminem

Wayne personally. I think his impact was stronger. Eminem's peak > Wayne's peak but Em spent the last 15 years diluting his discography

so in this scenario, people who grew up with Wayne are from a timeline where Eminem wasn’t making music at the exact same time? what’s your point here?

Lil Wayne wasn't commonplace until Eminem's hiatus. Two distinct eras

but Tha Carter 3 came out in 2008 and Eminem came back with Relapse at the end of 2009. Define these eras for me.

Eminem has talked about being motivated to come back because of Wayne's prominence.

And nobody thinks hiatus Em or post hiatus Em was very good. That was prime Wayne. Eminem's prime was literally a decade prior.

Wayne even influenced Eminem to use more punchlines in his music from Recovery and onward.

    Em admitted such himself.
