I meant what's the point of comparing every artist to him when none of them live up to that standard and never will. some come closer than others, but we have to think of impact on the industry, influence (which also includes people copying you lol), critical acclaim, iconic moments, catalog of hits, classic hits including singles and albums both, there's so much he did that no one will ever live up to and it's disrespectful to put much lesser artists against him and it's disrespectful to the artist to expect them to reach heights like that when no one ever has before or after him. maybe someone will, but not from what we can see.

Nobody will EVER reach Michael Jacksons level. He is the greatest performer I can think of and a close second is James Brown (his major influence). I remember watching his live shows and music videos growing up. His melodies are unmatched till this day and nobody has or I feel will ever have the influence he had. He is a standard of what it is to be maxed out in those aspects of the industry I believe. That aside, personally, I don't find his music that great to match the level of influence, he had. Many would disagree with me though.

i didn't even think about the different generations. Beyonce does reach the older people a lot more than Drake. I would think older people like Drake's music too, but you do have a point cuz I don't see a lot of older people excited about Drake and his music like Beyonce. Both are huge stars though

Drake is more relevant. More big with the youth, who ultimately drive sales, radioplay, etc.

Beyonce is more well-known and has probably far more music recognition than Drake outside the US. People in the mid-late 20s and older who aren't really into hip hop probably know more Beyonce songs than Drake songs.

So Drake is a way bigger music artist rn. But Beyonce is the more famous and well-known artist.

in 2018 drake was the biggest artist in the world and in 2019 Drake was the 8th biggest without an album according to IFPI who measure global sales across all formats and countries
2016 Drake was #1 Beyonce was #7 despite them both releasing albums
2017 Drake was #2

so I think if you're talking right now objectively its gotta be Drake

think of it this way if Drake and Beyonce released the exact same album tomorrow who would sell more worldwide
