    You don’t know music.

Who cares. That s*** still weak. Can’t even compete with classics

  • Rich Spirit, Mother I Sober, Father Time, great records honestly.

But it’s Drake. Replay value is what matters most IMO

The 5 year wait backfired. Kendrick needs to stop overthinking it and just cook up some quick heat for the streets

Really don’t think he got that in his bag he’s not a fast creater

Kendrick dropped one album that exceeded expectations

Drake has dropped two subpar albums trying to delay the decline

Extremely varied and interesting production, introspective bars that just so happen to be Kendrick’s most vulnerable in his entire career, and a cohesive theme/structure. What more can you ask for? I’m not saying his album was perfect, but from a general standpoint it was better than Drake’s. Once again, this is coming from someone who loved every track on Her Loss

I can ask for rap. That album has pretty much no clever bars/wordplay

Mr Morale not as bad as some of yall say but it's not as good as some of yall say either. S***'s like a 7/10 at most. It gets praised for Kendrick being vulnerable and owning up to his flaws but he doesn't even really do that. Nigga blames his cheating on his mother being molested and slavery Blames everyone else for placing this messiah mantle on him, but only has like one or two lines acknowledging his own role in embracing it. It felt like he threw everyone else under the bus rather than truly own up to his flaws

Niggas quoting this with Auntie Diaries are simple

That s*** is just a song about current events lmao

I think A Mad Ass Nigga is baiting, the people trying to say Kendrick wasn't controversial on that album are the ones looking simple in here Cheating on his wife with white women, the ancestors watching me f*** line, revealing he was anti-vaxx at first, Kodak features, "hello... crackers!", wearing the crown of thorns. He was definitely trying to be controversial with a lot of what he did on this album

If he really blamed that s*** on his mom and slavery he wouldn’t have gone to counseling lol

Understanding the context for your issues and taking accountability for them are not mutually exclusive and he does both

There’s a whole verse in Mother I Sober where he outlines what cheating did for his self esteem and why it was problematic, if he goes a step further to a***yze generations of sexual abuse in the black community, that doesn’t negate what he said about himself

  • Nov 6, 2022

One of them released a good album and the other released mid steppers

  • Nov 6, 2022

Kenny was being v controversial on Mr Morale and having fun with it, not sure how you can say otherwise

I don't necessarily agree with the first paragraph. Blames is the wrong word, but he doesn't really take accountability enough on the album imo. He acknowledges the pain he caused but there's all these external reasons for it. F***ing those white women felt good, own your s*** 4:44 title track is a better example of taking accountability

I interpret the removing of the savior mantle as an acknowledgment of his flaws and humanity. Like he realizes he’s kind of a piece of s*** sometimes and being the savior of the world isn’t something he can realistically do. That’s kind of the through line of the album IMO. Maybe I’m wrong.

One point I want to make as someone who has been in counseling for years and has cheated: any good counselor is going to make you consider why you made the choice you did rather than judge you for that decision. I hate what I did and who I was but I also reflected on why it happened so I can live up to my own ideals in the future.

Idk why Kendrick chose to frame cheating as a larger generational issue but I think he’s probably done his part to atone with this wife and realistically that’s all that matters.

Why did I write so much about this s*** lol
