They tried to duplicate it but they ain't balance the rap and r&b ratio right
Even Bryson himself lost the formula
All the imitations that came after was more like watered down r&b wearing a rap skin thats different
On THIS project specifically Bryson was rapping nearly as well as he was singing, best two-way R&B/Rap performance up to that point aside from Drizzy
Saw somebody say PND yall missing the entire point per usual because ya'll like to argue (hoe tendency fr lol)
PND was singing with autotune and it was immaculate, Bryson was LITTERALLY rapping AND singing, PND wasn't doing that
After this project I expected a flood of artists who were equally talented rappers and singers, the Drizzy dream fully realized, but it didn't happen sadly just a bunch of lazy mysogionists crooners dressed like rappers

Oh u mean unlike bryson “but you dont mean nothing to me” tiller?
Foh lmao
such cap
during that time period, male R&B was already in a bit of a rut.. we had Miguel and the occasional Frank Ocean record but it's not like we had an abundance of men making pure R&B and having motion... to me, if that were the case, the Trapsoul wave wouldn't have had such an impact
and let's say you STILL wanna hate on people like Bryson, I feel like you gotta not only give the new acts grace for trying something new, but also hold the old guard accountable for their role in where the game went.
You gotta remember this was early digital, transitional period. It wasn't easy to get a big record with pure silky R&B, especially for a man. Most of the R&B singers you heard at the time, the first time we heard them was on the Radio, but not in their natural lane: from features on songs by RAPPERS.. Or they jumped on a trap leaning club joint.
Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign were R&B guys who had incredible vocals but found their way in the club with DJ Mustard and Hitmaka and them. CB was able to put out pure R&B records on his albums for his Core, but he was also a singer whose bread and butter eventually became club records, especially after Fortune where he leaned heavily into EuroDance music. Ne-Yo is a GOAT and to me his discog is flawless, but even a stan like myself has to admit, once Ne-Yo jumped on Give Me Everything with Pitbull, he abandoned R&B and went Eurodance too. Usher did too! The Weeknd was out here but again, he was never PURE R&B. He was always left of that lane, due to his content, influences, etc.
The OGs and young guys who could've kept R&B pure all abandoned their traditional sounds to compete with rappers & popstars, and that left the door wide open for a Bryson Tiller, a PND, a 6LACK to pop in and steer the genre.
I don't know how you can act like Bryson doing an album that actually reflected where the youth culture Was and how modern relationships played out ruined the R&B genre.. just because he had some verses on there and wasn't Belting and crying on the beat doesn't mean the music wasn't good. It resonated for a reason.
Yea i stopped reading halfway when you started bringing up ty “i got the biggest f***ing * she ever saw” dolla sign.
These niggas suck bro lol
Edit: saying a bunch of misogynistic slop reflecting youth culture at that time like…that was a good thing aint the flex you think it is
Youth culture was always misogynistic my nigga the WORLD by patriarchal design is that’s what made those songs about love THAT MUCH MORE SPECIAL you bean

Growing up during the era when grown men was SINGING and wasnt afraid to be vulnerable cause they WASNT TRYNA BE RAPPERS >>>>>
the f*** is trap soul man it aint no soul in the trap, that’s why it’s called trap (big boi voice)
asap yams

Just stfu bro you don't know wtf you talking about
Brian tiller was a psy op
If you were really following that sound when it was bubbling you would know the only other cat who was on the s*** party was on in 2012-2013 was this cat lyfe Harris
Party and Lyfe were producing their own s*** creating this "trap R&B" wave all Bryson did was buy a "Drake type beat" and do a bad imitation but op wanna give the credit to Bryson. Look at where Bryson is today and look at party is bro, I'm not even talking fame or acclaim I'm talking purely musically/creatively,
You either gotta be young af or you don't know the genre as well as you think you do
Just remembered Party wrote wild thoughts too which is basically one of Brysons biggest songs
Party also birthed this f***er too

looks like the dogg pound in the ny ny video
nah this s*** ruined male R&B for like a whole decade lol.
