they like someone whos artsy with a tinge of 'outside' to them. it informs a more nuanced taste than listening to straight up 'artist' rappers or straight up street/real people rappers. most of them cant be f***ed sitting through tons of street rap to find something redeeming or they get bored bc theres too little conventional artistry behind it
