Some people dislike them because they prefer straightforward content or feel that hidden elements can be exclusionary or overly complex. Personally, I don’t think it’s fair for featured artists to be treated like cameos rather than a significant part of a project. Albums aren’t supposed to be there for shock and awe first listens - and hidden features, to me, don’t help alleviate the whole notion that music is starting to just feel like content to be consumed once and forgotten about.
