many vocalists do this but to a lesser extreme

you hear someone like Uzi who has various vocal pitches depending on what he wants to sound like on a song

Michael Jackson was a notable example of this because he actually had a pretty deep voice naturally that sounds nothing like the MJ you hear on a song. he just strengthened his vocal cords to be able to sound like the stereotypical “soft Michael” you hear in his interviews or his music
