u sound normal being ok with an artist taking their time. others itt and ppl in general that fan for certain artists seem obsessed and entitled tbh

ah yes, I should totally be ok with Carti hyping up a date, going to the lengths of releasing 3 mysterious IG posts on IG with it and the title of an album.

nobody would be disgruntled if he didn't pull constant antics online and drag us along like puppies on a leash.

if carti was "taking his time" he would've continued to be silent, clearly Narcissist is ready/close to being finished or something is holding up the release like samples.

You sound like a fan and if u had seen this pattern repeatedly each release, you probably know what to expect. Puppies on a leash is….applicable to u and not me dog. The music comes out when it does. U can follow artists on Spotify and get release notifications etc but nothings requiring you to be so closely following this artists each n every social media move etc. s*** is voluntary

Man I think it’s mad weird to assume so much out of the silence or non silence of what is effectively a stranger that makes music for people to listen to. Yes the tweet says f*** the sample clearances etc but that’s outside his and your control it seems. It can’t be that deep to end up “disgruntled” it’s not like you prepaid for something that wasn’t handed over to u. It’s effectively free music.

9/10 an artist won't release something without some sort of rollout unless it's a surprise drop. silence, especially in carti's case, is a huge indicator on whether he plans to drop anything

Which is why I few like they should consult things behind the scenes before announcing anything that relates to music because at the end up the this f***s your marketing your and makes you look unprofessional

i know artists are still human at the end of the day but its crazy how many of them can be industry veterans and still have 0 grasp on how anything works business wise. labels are shady as all hell too so it's not like its just on artists, but you see these artists like half a decade or even longer in many cases into their career who still dont understand things like sample clearing, publishing, marketing, etc. Hell, even more than that, it's crazy you have artists who are actual industry vets who can't get fundamental things that even random e-commerce small biz can do - look at Frank Ocean & his merch situation.

Bad example as dude distributes merch independently... other artists signed to labels have that entire process taken care of/ is part of their deal (before the changing of the rules regarding merch bundling it probably was an important part of the rollout the label oversaw to make sure their artists "sold" as many units of the album as possible). Frank's mistake is not hiring a big enough team and not properly overseeing supply chains (production of vinyl especially).

the point was more that people can be in the industry for years and have all the resources in the world and still not be able to do things competently

pretty sure announcing the release date was a whole promo rollout like the Donda s*** where Kanye said he would put it out a certain date then never released s***.
