Nothing unusual. Even before Discovery they went separate ways for a while to focus on their own projects.
I mean, yeah, but t's never been this long before without a major project from them as a duo. Homework was '97, Discovery was '01, HAA was '05, TRON was '10, RAM was '13. Their only joint activity since RAM/Yeezus was Gust of Wind in 2014, Starboy and I Feel It Coming in 2016, and a one-off song for Parcels in 2017. 4 songs in over 7 years.
This is the longest drought the band has gone without new material and projects together. The last time either of them appeared on an album of anyone's was January 2019.
The rumor of them working with Dario Argento sounded great and sounded like a good compromise to them trying to tackle a major/ambitious project while simultaneously avoiding having to follow up RAM, but that turned out to not even be true.

Discovery was 2001, 2003 was Daft Club
I mean theyre grown ass family men at this point
It was to be expected that they slow down, although I gladly welcome any new release
Chilling pretty much. This ain't the first time they've taken a long hiatus and only do random features or production placements. Honestly felt like this was to be expected by now
New album probably coming next year or 2022. You know they be touring the f*** outta their new music whenever it drops. With the Rona going on and having to deal with the remnants of it next year they're very likely waiting for the coast to be fully clear.
Thomas too busy EP’ing another classic Arcade Fire album
I mean, I'd take that at this point. His songs on EN are the 4 best.

This is the first time that hiatus has gone this long with no indication of more material coming. RAM was hinted back in '08, TRON was confirmed in '09, etc.
They should drop by 2025
Then the drafts or the other versions of those hypothetical songs should be used in a
Alive 2027
Pls
who knows but I could see RAM being their last record for a grip.
it really brought them full circle doing disco and working with their musical ancestors. it kinda feels like the perfect send-off even if I don't want it to be as a fan.

agree with that. i think RAM was their last album
This is still one of my favorite performances of past decade

smh
They stay in their studio with their modded led robot helmets and just make music & eat lots of french food and argue who the best boogie funk musician is.
Then they fight it out in their helmets on the floor with their helmets blinking in the dark studio space and at it again the next day.
RAM a classic forever (period)
Will age like fine wine even more so than it already did
"Overhated"
Lmao
Even when something is universally praised by critics and a commercial success, you weirdos in this section still find a way to make yourselves think you're "unique" for liking it
