Do paintings and music have not meaning then

yes but those things are physical. music is streaming now and different. most people don’t own a single song so it’s kind of incomparable. a painting tho yes has value but is physical. i can put it up in my living room. your cool cat NFT i can take a screenshot of, and make my profile picture. i can also buy a replica piece of art and put it in my living room. they are similar however digitally created art has never caught on like pieces created by hand. there is value to a van gogh piece because van gogh created it. i have a hard time seeing how people will justify spending money on a cool cat as time goes on. there is no history there. and there is certainly not a lot of creativity with it. Many fine pieces of art do not also have 10k prints that are all basically the same piece of work with slight tweaks.
as a heads up i’m not totally anti nft. i do see the comparison to art and to sneakers for example. but at this current moment the idea of spending 20k on a cool cat just does not seem feasible to me and seems
more driven in making money than it is care for the asset being purchased. that’s one comparison i would say is not true with paintings. many people who buy fine art are buying for personal collection and display, not to try to flip in 5 months. they’re both investments certainly though.

I swear the archetype of OP that punches down on people to try and incite fomo and somehow position themselves as superior and "ahead of the pack" because they bought some crypto or NFT are some of the most annoying type of people. They'll sit around in silence waiting for the market to bounce back just so they can run around and say "I told you so!" to anyone who will listen

there has to be a name for it, it’s very similar to the weirdos in music sxn that hype up these trash ass new gen artists and any sort of criticism they’ll say “you’re washed” or “you’re just not tapped in”

They chased me and @vela out of Investment thread because we called it all out for being a pyramid scheme and look at it now. I'm still mad these criminals managed to rename Staples Center to Crypto.com Arena. That check will definitely bounce at some point. The only thing crypto is good for is moneylaundering.
