I don't think influence has to come down to influencing individual artists
You can have an effect on the trends and sound of a genre and it is still influence
Influence doesn't even have to be based on originality
But he neither had an effect on the trends or sound. I just want ya’ll to point out these exact moments since they exist
@op is acting like one artist can get 5 of those generational hits during his prime. God's Plan and One Dance were exceptional. Taylor also only has 3 of those type of hits.
He stays comparing himself to MJ and The Beatles they did more with less…
Even Akademiks acknowledged this doesn’t exist and he’s a Drake STAN. So I’ll wait lmfao

S***, getting God's Plan and those two Trap Money Benny joints all in the same year was kinda crazy
Damn that’s crazy how wrong you are lmao
Been reading the thread and was happy to see actual discussion for the first few pages. I could care less for the stan war stuff or I would’ve tried to rope this into being a beef thread
Sure,
you got your answers lol
Die With a Smile is a mega hit right now and it hasn't even hit #1 yet
So it’s gradually building momentum in a natural way instead of going #1 for a week off the strength of the artist name behind it?
Anyway you can have a hit that doesn’t go #1 that wasn’t my question in the first place.
Sure,
you got your answers lol
You totally got me bro it was a thinly veiled hate thread I thought up on a Thursday night while making dinner
Dumbass
Wtf is a cultural hit 😭

Etc etc etc
Etc etc etc
Seems subjective af
FPS and RBD is the right answer tho.
FPS is nothing compared to the songs above this post

he’s one of those stans that gets mad when ppl ask why Drake hasn’t been as popular recently. You can’t reason with idiots like @elemental

FPS, RBD, Rich Flex, Wants and Needs, LNCL, LIG, Jimmy Cooks, Wait 4 U, and Knife Talk are all objectively major hits lol.(There’s more I can name too lmao)
Wtf is a cultural hit 😭
songs that still get played at birthday parties and weddings 20 years from now

Wait 4 U the biggest out of all these. Don't know bout LNCL or Wants and Needs.
I'm not mad at people questioning it because Drake clearly slowed down on trying to make a pop hit and zerod in on Wheezy and TayKeith type songs and his melodic bag.
Plus we don't know when UMG pressed the button for him. Arguably UMG doesn't care about promoting his new music because he probably owns it now and they only need the new music because it draws people to listen to his back catalog.
All in all OP aint wrong for asking but hip hop in general hasn't had a Shaboozey type hit in a long ass time.
