Heard the full album yesterday and it gave me lots of nostalgic moments, like going to ATL for the first time to see the 1st listening party, then waking up to disappointment the next day
Then watching that crazy 12 hour livestream for the 2nd listening party
Then watching the 3rd livestream and being completely in shock when ye got lit on fire to Come to life
On the music side of things, there's lots of hits on there, little to no misses (besides TELL THE VISION)
Amazing.
Jonah the only bad joint. Vory gotta be the worst artist to ever be on a Ye album.
mixed bag, some incredible highs, some mild filler, could've used just a few extra weeks to polish it out. overall not one of his strongest albums, but incredibly interesting, and miraculously lucid for modern day kanye. lots of replay value, and reaches emotions in me few other artists or records can touch.
stinks but looks better next to vultures
The musical highs are better than the two albums that came before it but it has no identity. Just a collection of songs with nothing to tie it together. It also feels deeply impersonal despite attempts to the contrary because it was made by like 4 different versions of Kanye. Ye and JIK at least work as time capsules and snapshots into who he was at the time he was making those albums.

terrible take
terrible take
Vory is directly responsible for Ok Ok and Jonah. Both his songs Ye took for whatever dumb reason.
Ok Ok is just average but Jonah is godawful. Boring beat, Vory sounds terrible, bad Ye verse, Boring Durk feature.

hard hard disagree. got the groove of 808s and heartbreak in the beat. durk's verse is beautiful and i really find vory's vocals infectious

I relistened in full earlier this month and this can't be further from truth. All the songs sound cohesive, probably more so than any Ye album (some probably don't like that as some songs' identity was changed to fit the album's identity.)
Also I believe it captures the position he was in 2021 very well.
amazing thread. cause i been thinking a lot about it. it’s classic. nostalgia starting to hit
i like it - probably more than most people
i think there is some filler and it does feel a bit bloated but i also think there are some undeniable standout moments on it
the whole "kanye is washed now" rhetoric that started because of the album is so dumb to me too - like, how can he be washed when songs like come to life, 24, believe what i say etc are all this late in his career

Yeah. More than anything it's a conceptual tour de force. Every rapper is kept on target, several themes often revolving around different types of imprisonment, faith, Black identity, and lpve, loss and death emerge and swirl around one another. It's a depiction of Ye's headspace in the decade plus after the loss of his mother, the things she imparted in him. Everybody wanted it to be directly about his feelings regarding his mother, but for whatever reason it takes a more oblique path. But that path is conceptually sound and makes sense once you wrap your head around it.
Also has a nice trajectory from Jail to No Child Left Behind. It's actually well sequenced, especially at the beginning and end.
