GKMC leak thread

I remember it leaked 2 or 3 days before the official release date, which was rare back then since most album leaked a week before.

First listen was amazing after the wait.

I was in my room vibing out.

It felt different than most debut albums.

Sing About Me / I'm Dying of Thirst left such a strong impression on me.

A couple months later, I realized Kendrick may have dropped a classic debut album.

“will you let hip hop die on october 22nd?”

remember playing tf outta the heart pt 3 leading up to the release and then playing cod a lot while playing the album. good ass times man

I was working at a club back then and I remember being so confused why swimming pools went so crazy in the club when the subject matter was so heavy

Dunno why but the first thing I thought after hearing GKMC was

DAMN, Lupe's in trouble lol. Kind of thought that too after hearing Section 80

I was caught off guard how good it was gonna be. Heard it for the first time in a studio in Atlanta. Had no idea it was gonna be a classic like that.

I thought it was gonna be just another west coast sounding album because of the direction he was going compared to Section 80.
The Recipe was a cool single and Swimming Pools was hard but it gave me no indication of how special the album was gonna be

Pretty sure I had local files of the album on iTunes on my laptop and I would just listen to the singles off GKMC and 2014 FHD on repeat in art class (lot of the class was just quietly drawing or sketching and we could just listen to music if we wanted to)

Listened to it on an old iPod touch and every song was in alphabetical order

I remember seeing the hype about it on ktt1 listened to the leak and immediately fell in love with it

I first got exposed to Kendrick by listening to his leaks.

"Westside Right On Time" was the 1st Kendrick song I ever listened to.

Then, it was Swimming Pools which was one of his early singles.

I heard Swimming Pools everywhere outside but I just saw it as another hit rap song.

Then, GKMC came out and I started checking out the songs on the album and me and some kids in my high school were discussing it a lot. We were talking about our favorite songs on it and comparing Kendrick to Drake and J Cole(something that still happens today lol).

Good times.

Cousin played it in my brothers card they would burn their own cds with a bunch of songs
