The corporations don’t tolerate people who report outside of their agenda. Manufacturing Consent by Chomsky and Herman explores this.

And? What the f*** does this even mean lol

I take issue with Jewish people claiming victimhood and cancelling black people who have suspect, ignorant views.

These views expressed by Nick are dumb. Very dumb, but it comes from a place of oppression. Black people have been stripped and called dumb/genetically inferior for generations and generations. From this, certain black people have convinced themselves they are in fact the superior ones. This is where that mindset comes from. It does not come from a bad place. It comes from a community being told they are useless for generations.

    The right hates Jewish people.

Eh .. I'd argue the left hates them more tbh which is crazy to think but it has mainly to do with Israel itself, not jews.

That's because the jews are usually allies to oppressive right wing parties all over the world. Even to the point of smear campaigns towards the left parties. This happened in the UK.

Basically the rich who control the media corporations have vested interests in things like conflict and foreign relations. So they use their influence and platforms to sway public opinion away from the truth towards the narrative that best suits them. The book used examples like the coverage of different South American’s countries based on the US governments foreign policy aims there. If the media is suppressing information and promoting misinformation, it poisons proper discourse because no has access to the facts. Journalists who promote the truth which conflict with the mainstream narrative will be called unpatriotic. The book is from the 80s and the media landscape has shifted because of the way we consume information but the fundamentals still hold true.

Not really related to anti-semitism directly but it is bad to have ownership of the mass media being concentrated in the hands of so few people.

As I said this before, owning a company has nothing to do with controlling it to its entirety.

It's equivalent to owning a car. Just because you own it doesn't mean your always the one driving it.

The majority, if not all of the people who are controlling these corporations day to day are adhering to the guidelines set out from the top. Are you saying that people have autonomy within the media corporations to do what they want and the owners have little impact on what gets published?

Do you really think these wealthy CEOs really have time for that s***? Plus most of them are registered democrats as well. The argument saying that their Republicans is flat out wrong.

It’s more than democrats and republicans. The American political range is very narrow, particularly at the top. These people have disagreements about stuff too, and use their platforms to reflect their own interests and views. At the end of the day their man enemy Is not their fellow billionaire who they have disagreements with, it’s the people who want to change the whole system that they have thrived on.

Conservatives will say the media “lost the Vietnam war” by being negative about it, but the coverage never strayed away from “this is a waste of Americans lives”. There was no discussion of the war crimes committed by Americans, beyond isolated instances of outrage like My Lai which was unavoidable once the public knew about it thanks to activists.

I’m rambling but basically I’m saying there is strict limit of media autonomy which gives the illusion of a free press but ultimately the rich will always unite to protect their class interests.

Like someone said earlier this theory about them altering the media has been disproven many times.

If you don't understand class politics, you can't understand the power dynamic you're living within. As such, something has to fill that void. We live in an alienating, exploitative world. We are subject to these forces. Feeling that something is wrong is natural. Unfortunately, that leaves the door open for anybody who recognizes that to then lead you astray.

Class is supposed to remain unmentioned. Mentioning it is considered "warfare" to those who benefit from it. Thus you never even get the vocabulary to arrive at the idea yourself.
