You're young age to have finished grad school congrats to u breh
U should take some time to figure out ur place in this world. But also acknowledge the power of education and having specialization such that u can work 5 days a week and do things for people that very few others can
Ur in a great place brehh
Also happy birthday! Lol
I appreciate it gives me more financial freedom, but I don't think this career is something I even want to be doing 2 or 5 years from now. I thought about saving and earning a 2nd bachelors in math at a cheap local college while working part time eventually. I'm in accounting/finance right now.
I find economic research interesting, so If I ever wanted to make that my field I'd need serious quantitative skills to pursue it at a serious graduate level. It would entail me spending basically 80% of my 20s in school though.
Outside of trying for a research/scholarly path, I know mentorship is a real passion for me especially among poorer students/first generation. I def. do not want to become a teacher though, I know I personally value some prestige/recognition in whatever I pursue. So I can't make volunteering my whole life.

Economics that's regression a***ysis and machine learning breh
U can learn that 2 years in a data science master's program
That's basically what I learn rn I can always help. That stuff isn't as hard as the teachers will make it sound
Not to say it isn't rly powerful stuff u should go for it
This girl has been talking s*** about me for years like I’m an aint s*** ex and I haven’t even f***ed her

I don't know linear algebra, real a***ysis, multivariate calculus and have never taken a proofs class though. Lot of the respectable graduate programs basically want you to be a mathematician coming in to handle the research. Data science skills definitely help, but yea I don't think I have prereq knowledge to even understand/use it effectively without learning the math first tbh.

I feel u that will make it trickier. Masters programs with funding might be harder to find than PhD programs tbh. There r PhD programs that will give u living wage level stipends and you might be able to get in based on your convictions/education.
You could then take linear algebra and calculus while in said program. Computational economics is a good field I know ppl who were in ur position who did well in programs like that. The hardest part will be algorithms lol computer scientists don't f*** around.
This is a bit of an aside but real a***ysis, number theory etc will not be very relevant at all. If I were u I'd focus on calculus linear algebra statistics regression a***ysis and machine learning (in that order)

Yeah I was thinking if I could get into a fully funded PhD program, I wouldn't mind spending 5 years doing it.
I could finish a BA in math in a year and a half and apply directly to programs if I did well enough. I also could do one more year after that with a masters in math/stats/data science for a more competitive app too.

PhD is probably the slower yet overall safer path
If you're rly ready to make moves u can go back to school for math while working then maybe get a data science master's.
Tbh I'm doing a PhD rn it moves at a reasonable pace and we don't have to work another job so I could see this being the easier path. Only problem is your stuck here for at least 5 years. And it's risky because you gotta find a lab/group and stick to it

Tbh getting paid to research sounds more attractive than a typical 9-5 job doing whatever someone tells you. Lot more autonomous and you get to go to interesting conferences and network in the meantime.
I don't think I'd go the academia route after the PhD, at least not right away.

Yea it's a steal of a profession lol
I think u should go for it man. If you find a program with funding there rly is very little to lose. And you can definitely pick up the quantitative skills u seek everyone appreciates those skills
I am so tired of playing the f***ing game!
Like dude, f*** Apex Legends, f*** GTA, f*** Need for Speed. F*** Call of Duty. F*** this f***ing xbox

i regret being a w****. i think i was looking for love but at the same time was too scared to be vulnerable enough to accept it. happy i didn't ruin those girls lives though. they're way better off with me long gone out of their lives
