Ehhh I just still don’t think streaming “killed hip hop”. Theres nothing about this form of consumption that suggests to me that it’s the reason s*** got worse. I listened to one album today practically all day long on Apple Music. Is streaming convenient? Sure. Is it so convenient that it makes people lose attention span? I don’t think so that’s more so a phone issue overall. If music is good it’ll get streamed, it’ll make money off merch, it’ll make money off tours etc etc. I still think the direction of hip hop is the natural course it’s supposed to take. Like I said before, jazz and rock were both the dominant genres of their time and both lasted roughly half a century. Rap has really squeezed ALLOT of creative juices out if you think about it. The more it grew, the more cliques it invented which splinters the overall genre. It’s less of a monoculture than it used to be. I will say streaming did open the door wider for artists to enter the game so there’s an oversaturation to it but I still think if the music is def good enough it’ll just catch on. People love sharing music no?

Oh I’m not saying it killed hip hop but more. There has been one event level album this year. One. This used to be a monthly thing

Exactly. Rappers & the music industry squeezed out all they could from the genre. It’s not streamings fault though. Great albums still come out during streaming. The fact that there was this 1 event level album just goes to show me that streaming isn’t the problem it’s the culture itself. That album made it thru so what’s stopping anyone else from creating an eventful album? Rap is dying for more innovation but we’ve reached the point where AI is becoming a thing and AI is the very last human invention. Everything else will be invented by AI. We’re imo at the end of times anyways so I think it makes sense that things are the way they are right now.
Jazz fans HATED smooth jazz when it was growing in popularity. But that was the last subgenre it really produced
Look at the end of rocks reign, the 2000’s was s*** like nickelback, Creed, nu metal etc. the kids love this s*** and I don’t mind it but I’m pretty sure the music had a bad rap. Also forgot emo was 2000’s too
I think rap is just at its natural end. Even if streaming was never invented and we were still using CD’s I don’t think rap would be very far off from where it is now

True! IMO the end game of streaming is ai music once people are too far gone to tell the difference or care

I keep seeing s*** about whistleblowers walking away from millions because they think that AI will kill us all in like 5-10 years. Probably even sooner.

Have you ever seen 2001 Space Odyssey?
Says a lot about you if you enjoy watching that “comedian” that goes around singing in autotune.
Have you ever seen 2001 Space Odyssey?
Of course.
Would also recommend the Sun eater series it touches on this a bit.
